Anyone ever fitted a set of Headlight washers. I know Saab and Volvo come with the Wash Wipes.
But was thinking more of the high pressure concealed washers from an Audi or from a Scorpio.
As the Saab is for sale, I'm thinking of something small, slower, cheaper to buy but more fun to mod.
So first plan would be a set of Bi-Xenon HIDs from Ebay, and a retro fitted set of lens washers.
I know I could use something like headlight washers from a MK2 Astra or a similar aged Cav etc, but I fancy going for something sneakier and more concealed, using a hi pressure truck or coach screen wash pump relayed off the main windscreen pump, and those slot type washer jets, to pop up and clean the lenses.
Anyone done this with anything?

Interesting idea! I'm guessing that they will be quite easy on some cars, but a swine on others. Would be a great custom trick though, to have full mod cons like this all hidden on a stock looking old car ;D

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay Back in time I coined the term Luxo-look ,.. which I use to describe retro/older cars that have had fitted all mod-cons. You can retro fit just about everything, aircon, super sound proofing, computer systems, digital dashes etc. etc. My ultimate is the Mercedes doors that close themselves... The ones that you slam and just before they close they catch themselves, and then close themselves,... very nice.

In sweden it is compulsory for cars to have headlamp washers as standard....maybe have a snoop around Swedish Ebay? Not sure if such a thing exists, but there must be a Scandinavian market place out there.

I know about the older swedish compulsions for safety and standard fitment. Volvo 340 lamp wipers are similar if not the same as pre facelift Saab 900. I don't know if anything else uses the sam as the post facelift ones. Doing the wiper/spray method would be fairly easy with the motors mounted just below the headlamp. But I would prefer high pressure wiper less variety. I suppose, standard ones frenched into a metal bumper, running of a very high pressure (shure etc) pump might work as well as popups.
Wipers look good on Saabs and Volvos, less so on other makes.
I am probably looking at something "Sensible" like a Skoda Felicia, Early ones 94'ish are almost retro, and certainly use retro tech, but they carried them on until 2001. Later ones while mechanically very much the same had central locking, E-W, Immobilisers, PAS, and even the option of Leather on some LTD edition models. Would love a rear engined Skud, but they are now getting so rare, it is almost sacrilege to take a good one and hack it up.
I want something cheap, frugal, modernish for daily driving for a couple of years. I can live without aircon but it would be nice. I want all the other toys though (winds/CL/PAS/Alarm with full closure)
Then in a couple of years, once the credit card is paid off, and the house has had another couple of grand paid off, and I'm maybe earning a little more, find something like a Datsun Skyline/Toyota CROWN/Colt Soparro and get a lock up, genny and mig/sprayer and get to work.
