They look like M3 ones to me! Great thread! I love that forum even though I don't understand it ;D Some wonderful old machinery in there, every time I thought of a candidate I'd scroll down to see someone else had thought of it too I thought I was on to a winner with the Alfa Six, but no! Apart from the Diplomat in the first post or so, which is one of my all time faves, I also have a strong urge for one of these: I love them!

Maybe a Hyundai Sonata, but they're more Cortina rather than granny. This just made it into 1980 though!

They'd even got the Alfa 90. Don't think I saw a CROWN though?
Barges are great, every home should have one. I love the subversive aspect of running something that was originally intended for middle-aged exec's (which I am not). Even better once they get a bit tattier IMO, and you drive them with 'enthusiasm'. A shabby Commodore saloon and a MkI Granny estate minus wheeltrims both stick in my mind for this reason.

Hmm, they might smell of Garlic, and have man handbags, but the french do have style. Just wish they could use some of it on modern cars.

mrsigma in da house: i just cant manage without a barge sized car in my lifeI almost always end up with 2 seaters, I want a big barge but in the end shoping around I fall in love with that Brabus Smart, Hot Rod, Pick Up, beat up Bug no rear seat, Hippie Baywindow with NO seats or something else quite unpractical since we do have two Borzoi dogs that need to be hauled around every now and then. My GF has a 90 Volvo 740 Wagon she's owned since 95 and it's a gem, I want to replace it with something a bit more comfy and cooler looking like a A8 but we do need a wagon I know..... Luxo Barge #1 of the late 70's must be the Merc 450 SEL 6.9, had a friend with one and have driven it across Europe on a couple of occations in the early 80's a great car.....
