Thanks I would put the tr6 wheels and fit a different set of springs tht sit lowewr while ya using it and change it back to sell I don't really want to spend any time going back and forth with bits like that as I've got enough on my plate. Also Mrs_Seth will appreciate not having to avoid speedbumps etc for a change .....don´t see why the MGB is not cool Just a personal cool wall thing I suppose. It certainly doesn't feel as "special" when driving it compared to other cars we've had. Totally capable and nice to have that warm BMC wil-go-on-forever feeling again. But not "special". Would love to do a Seth-look B at some point but I don't think this is the car for that. *ponders whether rmad will edit title

Rubber bumper models tend to be that way, due to the height and weight. Excellent purchase though and you should see your money back on it for sure.

ha ha, i thought when reading the thread title "didn't know they build a cambridge coupe" ;D Nice one, the MGB GT is a very nice looking car, the condition of yours looks also very good... what kind of money would set me back one of these if i may ask ? We have lots of MGBs over here, but not that much GTs...

Had to read the thread due to its title! i was thinking maybe you got your hands on a another custom set of fins, o well i would be well happy with that it looks a real straight car. A set of TR6 aint a bad idea.

Nice purchase, Seth! Could someone educate me as to the Cambridge reference? Were MGB's based on them?
I quite fancy a B. Although I think they're hard to modify well. The racer look like BGTMidget's looks good. But then I think they look great standard too!

You must be one of the only people I know for whom buying an MGB is being 'normal'. Actually, it seems like the perfect choice for your requirements.
ps. The title is fine.

Good to know that resto was done well - looks like it's survived since then in good hands. My second car was one of these...... loved it. For a boat anchor engine and tower block ride-height I still had a load of fun in it. Sounded gorgeous and you could throw it around like a total loon ( I was 18 and had the coolest car on camp ). Excellent purchase for now Seth - let's face it - it'll be no good as family transport once the nipper is out of diapers - how it was ever fobbed off as a 2+2 is anyone's guess. Used to have mates curled up on the back 'seat' like a shelf ornament ;D

SLOT MAGS!!!!!! (remember that white roadster at Stoneleigh the other year?) Yeah, well if some Scimitar rims with decent tyres and nuts appear and are very cheap I might be tempted.... Could someone educate me as to the Cambridge reference? Were MGB's based on them? There are major similarities between the underpinnings of the Cambridge (right from the '50's) and even earlier Austin designs (like Scary's A40) and the MGA/MGB. Quite a few parts are interchangable even. The engines are also all B series units. The MG's aren't exactly featherweights either. In fact I've just compared the numbers I've got and late rubber bumper GT like this with fuel and all optional extras weighs only about 50kg less than a Farina Oxford like my flamed one with a full tank of petrol. So the B handling and performance is also a bit agricultural for a "sports" car. You must be one of the only people I know for whom buying an MGB is being 'normal'. Hmm, interesting point. Ha, you'll be reading Practical Classics next! Oh, wait... Maybe I should cancel my sub and join the MG-OC it'll be no good as family transport once the nipper is out of diapers - how it was ever fobbed off as a 2+2 is anyone's guess. Used to have mates curled up on the back 'seat' like a shelf ornament ;D Its already too small for family transport! Her car seat won't physically fit in the back as it hits the roof. Would strictly speaking be illegal for her to ride in there without a booster seat even though it would be ludicrous to fit one (assuming we could get belts in). She also looks very exposed sat on the back seat as the seat back is very low and would provide no head support in even a light accident. Her car seat does however fit in the front passenger seat just fine so she might get to ride up front a few times on local one parent journeys I tried climbing in the back for fun....fortunately Katie didn't have the camera to hand ;D Glad ya'll like it

And there was a Cabrio too - ahh what could have been www.grapa.net/peugeot404/404almeida.htm

Seth - you`ll be wearing a flat cap, MG Owners club jumper and string backed gloves next. Sorry but I just don`t get MGB`s. (paint it satin black with a flame job, lowered with Moon discs then maybe I might take to it)

I like MGB GTs! Though maybe the rubber-bumpered ones aren't so very beautiful but... It's still a MGB GT!

A wise choice in the circumstances Seth. Easy to pass on when the Herald is done. Should get your money back too.

I also had one of these in the dim and distant past. Yep, it wasn't a chrome bumper but it was lowered on V8 rims! I loved it and used to drive it over from Germany every leave so it was more than good enough for me!! Nice purchase Seth, cool fleet!
