Mercedes 230SL, but then I am biased.... Let me know if you want to know anything about them...... As per all sports convertibles though, they are fairly noisy at speed, but definitely worth it when it comes to cruising around with the top down. With a top speed of 130mph, it will happily cruise all day on the autobahn at over 100. I recently did Doncaster to North London in mine in just over 2 hours, and it returned about 25mpg......

I'm not sure the luggage capacity of most of these matches the words "touring europe" and "lovely lady"

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

Chic, eh? Bit newer than most here, but I would love to drive around Europe in a Maserati Quattroporte III with a selection of cassettes. I would wear some kind of blazer/cravat combo and get out every so often to have a cigar and admire the slick Italian styling. Imagine pulling up to a casino in one, I don't think it would be possible to be any cooler really. Excellent!

I already have such a trip programmed into my SatNav, waiting and ready to go.
My choice of ride will be an MX5.
Won't be for a couple of years though.

May I suggest a navy blue double-breasted blazer with gold buttons, cream slacks, white shirt and a burgundy cravat? Simple, yet distinguished... I think something European, '60s or '70s with clean, sharp styling:

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

Volvo 1800 is a good choice. Mechanically, it's basically an Amazon, so if it breaks down, it's easy to fix and contains no exotic parts.

oooooo Touring europe you say hmmmmmmmmmm my choices would be: Capri, 300Zx and 944.....oh wait Top Gear have already done that ;D Lambo, Aston and Porsche......oh they did that as well lol however i would happily do it in any of these....... get permission of BstardChild first ;D ^ personally having done 1100miles across france in July i'd be inclined to take something 2.0l + so you don't have to rev the nuts off it, and most importantly something you find comfortable to drive, can't have something that'll give you back ache after 2 hours driving cos that'll spoil the trip somewhat! Oh and something reliable(which pretty much rules out french/english stuff )my 2.3 Toledo V5 coped like it was going to the shops and back
