Let me introduce my new, at the moment, daily driver*
It's a 1977 camaro with the smog 350 it came with from the factory, which, at the moment, runs good enough. It has headers, semi-loud 2,5" exhaust, a nice looking air cleaner, rejetted stock 4-barrel carb and "something" done to the heads.
Last owner (who btw thought the gearbox dipstick was for the engine, even when I pulled it out and it dripped red oil of it... ) Said it should be good for 250 bhp.
This is apparently enough to get it easily sideways on 245's in the dry, with a slushbox and the stock differential. It's easily the funnest car i've ever driven, this probably has alot to do with the oh-my-god-i'm-going-to-die feeling, combined with a roaring v8 ;D
It also has a beige 'n' brown leather interior, no pics of this yet.
The plans are as follows:
- Some proper exhaust pipes sticking out the back - done
- Limited slip differential
- Shift kit and maybe th700r4 or something, ie a 4-speed automatic.
- Fit the bumpers closer to the body, maybe paint 'em, not sure yet.
- Z-28 style headlight surroundings, amber indicators - done
- A front spoiler, maybe a homemade of sheet alloy
- Sort some electronics, no lights in the dash work, the electric fan is always on etc.
- Fit an old stereo in the dash, which controls at least the volume for a mp3 stereo in the glovebox.
- Paint some of the brown interior stuff brown, but leave most of the beige, add some switches, gauges, and a huge naked shifter *click*
- Some black 15" or 16" steel rims, preferably 8" and 10" wide. Still with huge tires though.
- And ofcourse, a slight tap with the stick ;D
In the distant future a engine with twin air filters trough a 'glass hood and a couple more horses would be fun, a 70-73 RS/SS front end, and make it handle properly, and not like a pregnant cow covered in butter. Stiff bushings, coilovers, subframe connectors and some bracing for the rear etc
* it drinks as much as my almost-dead MB 190, so the choice is easy ;D
