I once had a 1980s Raleigh racer. Think it was a Scorpion. It had a Peckham dealer sticker. I called it Dellboy. Bike Forums was good for a while. Loads of bike builds. But as you say. Lots of people asking the same questions. I suppose they are needing help. Shops can be terrible for offering advice. And magazines are much the same, and would take months to get a reply

Emdee. That looks good. Are those Italian mags? i think they're Chinese knock offs, they were too cheap to be anything decent ;D

Some old BMXs had mags like that that were made in Italy. Nothing fancy tho. They were quite sturdy. I had another type of mags on a Raleigh Streetwolf. There spokes were finger thick. Could feel them flexing as I pushed the bike across the smooth pavement.

Not been out on my shopper. As my Tescos terror, silver mountain bike is in favour just now. Just biked to Dundee, on the MTB. 90 minutes into a raging headwind. middle ring and standing up straining on the pedals. Was expecting it to be about an hour. As its around 12 miles. I got a butter dish, I think. From the charity shop for 30p. Will cut the stainless steel for a bracket for the rear mudguard. On the white bike. I'm going to cut down the rear guard. Cause the rear facing drop outs make it real difficult to get the wheel in and out. theres a reflectar bracket welded onto the carrier. will join onto there

What a great thread. Some cracking Kustoms. I recognise your username and some of your bikes Alecw35 from other forums. Did you ever find your cat??? I had a few sleepless nights wondering if it turned up after that awful fire you had???
I do hope the story had a happy ending?

After reading through Retrowagen's RSW thread I came home with this on Sunday night..... With working dyno......Plus the additional bonus of some cacky wiring ;D I don't know what date it is, all I know is that it's an Apollo Wanderer. Took it for a quick ride when I got it home and the gearing seems to be working although it could do with a good clean & some lube. It's got some surface crust on the handlebars but I reckon with some effort & Autosol they'll come up a bit better. The brakes are shockingly bad but I don't think I'll be racing along on her ;D Not sure what to do, whether to just clean up, repair/replace anything that needs doing and use as is or whether to 'chop' her about a bit which I think would be a bit of a shame as she's survived pretty well up to now. I haven't 'chopped' a bike about before so something that's on deaths door would probably be better for experimenting on I guess. Hoping to make a start on her this weekend but I was reminded about some jobs that need doing indoors as soon as I pushed it into the house before I can start on this. ;D ;D

Hi Canopusxs235. I'm sorry to cause you worry. No happy ending to the story. I didnt find the cat. looked thru all the stuff that was there. But theres a lot of trees and feilds and little old ladies, nearby. So plenty places for a cat to stay. Hes better off out of it.
As for dungbungs bike. Mine was 1988, as far as can remember. The 3 speed hub has got a date number on it. If your looking to change the wheels. The tyres are normal BMX/ little MTB. 20x 175...406 erto. But since its an older bike. The front hub lock nuts are narrower than modern bikes. Nowadays its 100mm between fork blades. Used to be around 90mm. So if you get other wheels. You'll have to lever them in. Or better, widen the fork blades, evenly. So the wheel just slips in with no strain. Can break axles if under strain. The 3 speed hub has 28 spokes. Theres ussually 36 spokes. Ive managed to get an alloy wheel with 28 spoke. But its black anodised. So will sand it to silver, before building the rim onto the hub. That takes ages. so putting it off.

Chainguard on its way to ya dude.... got the misses to post it yesterday as I had to go to an interview....
Annoyingly i didnt get any pics of my lil red folder...
Mine had a sachs tornado hub, 3 speed but a lil less refined than the SA. Still work nice but your stuck with a certain ratio. as its not so easy to swap out sprockets... Ill fit it to a bmx at some point tho haha
