The Scirocco failed it's MOT on Friday afternoon - not chuffed at all 2 rear wheel bearings 2 rear brake pipes 1 wheel cylinder and the inner arch on the drivers side was fowling the wheel on full lock! I didn't think this was too bad initially, but I didn't realise you had to remove the rear axle to get to the brake pipe on the drivers side.............. Still, did all the work on Saturday and it's going back in for a re-test tomorrow morning, so fingers crossed......!

My Polo failed on Saturday morning, that makes 3 of of in the failed VW club ;D. Tidied up a fuel hose, replaced the front barke hoses and sorted a couple of electrical problems that I should have done before and need to book it back in. Hope all goes ok in the re-test for you

Me to - if it fails again I'm just going to ask them to do the work so I can get a ticket for 12 months I have a feeling the rear brakes won't be correct - for some reason they were a P I G to bleed! Oh, has anyone ever dropped the rear axel from a Scirocco / Golf - bloody hell they're heavy!

Me to - if it fails again I'm just going to ask them to do the work so I can get a ticket for 12 months That's sounds a slightly dubious methodology. There must be plenty of garages who can make a nice earner out of this sort if thing. Esp if you let slip before they do the test. Here's a tip for getting a fair and unbiased MoT test: Take your car along to your local council depot. Councils have to have MoT facilities for their own vehicles... but they are obliged to test your vehicle too if you ask them. As they don't do repairs to cars for Joe Public, they don't stand to make anything from failing it and then doing any "work" that is (or isn't) required.

or look for an indepandant test station that work on the same principle - i've got two near me, just massive industrial units that test cars and don't repair them. funny how many cars i used to have fail when i took it to a garage, i never have mysterious failures any more.
