Okay I've got a photoshop request, but they need to be good ... Can anyone Cal-Look (as per the strict rules) a Morris Minor, a Renault 5 and a Datsun Cherry (I think Rmad may have this one already)... Anyone want to make the Mallazon? I did it quickly the other day and it works, but I don't have the time to make it properly...

Nice Cherry, but I'd ditch the roof rack though. Why bother making a car look cleaner, then cluttering it up again? As I see it, the accessories thing is a VW-driven thing where people had to do something to differentiate their car from the many other similar ones at a show. Eventually it all gets out of hand, with people vying to spend more and find rarer bits in a massive burst of one-upmanship. Case in point - an Autoplas rear window louvre for a 100A recently went for £91 on eBay.....
Reminds me that back in the late 80's when the Cal-Look thing was everywhere I imagined a Datsun 120Y coupe done sort of this way. Lowered, decent wheels, lots of colour-coding and orange paint. Keeping a little of the original chrome, would still look OK nowadays I reckon.

The roof-rack is a deliberate reference to a certain look...it's details like that that can let the informed enthusiast know that the car is the result of thought and influence, not just accidently cool. Some well chosen hot rod related or surf related stickers in the window or a set of whitewalls may not always be the best thing for the cars look, but enhance the overall theme of a car by accentuating otherwise missed influences. Like the subtle flames on that Mk2 Golf recently let us know that the owner was making decisions about the look of his car based on more than just luck. Let's face it, putting a roof-rack on any car modified for performance (lowering, BBS wheels, tuned engine) is a pretty stupid thing to do...but sometimes those references are the stand-out touches.
