I was planning to buy a camcorder to mount in the car on trackdays but couldn't resist the V8 - wise move i think

Yep got to get all of those, i need tubular manifolds aswell as i don't fancy cutting the inner wings to fit the rover manifolds. It probably won't be fitted until late next year i'm just going to start gathering the bits i need, I may even get some engine work done on the v8 before it goes in. I just really need to finish my beetle before i can even think about taking the mg off the road but i just didn't want to miss out, as low mileage sd1 engines don't seem to be about very often. Got it for £205.96 which i was pretty chuffed about. The thought of fitting the v8 to the mg has given me the kick up the i needed to get the Beetle finished The engine and gearbox is sound in my mg now so should be able to get decent money for those although my diff may be iffy as i've been getting a knocking noise that may be the diff on its way out and i have got a trackday at Donington friday so i guess i'll find out if its the diff or not

Top grammar tips! Bought = purchased. Brought = relocated Lose = misplace/opposite of win. Loose = your mum

What gearbox are you going to use? Also, am I right in thinking that this transplant is easier with the rubber bumper bodyshells?
BTW, there's a guy on the MG BBS who is currently putting a Rover V8 into a Midget!

Well i found today a mate at work has a 5 speed rover v8 gearbox that i can have:)
Yeah its alot easier with a rubber bumper car, on a chrome bumper MGB the front crossmember needs changing to allow more clearance, the gearbox tunnel isn't big enough and needs modifying and the radiator needs moving.
Whereas with a rubber MGB it was available with a V8 lump so you don't need to do any of the above. So no body mod's are needed although they do suggest putting some vents on the inner wings by the mainifolds to let some heat out.

Wise decision :-)
I happen to know of someone else with a V8 project waiting in the wings (sort it out Chris or I'm having it back!)

Look, I've told you before, fitting a Rover V8 into a mountain bike is time consuming business! ;D Seriously Daz, I will get it chucked in the Landy sooner than later (I hope), unless you fancy having it back for the Cooper?! We have seen the V8 Clubman, now the V8 Cooper! ;D Hmmm, Landy with sub 10sec 0-60, fun! ok, ok, I'll get it done!
