YO, most of you know i've been on holiday for two weeks, well check out this load of creaking cr@p that I photographed while en route. 1) roadside finds: Mazda 121 coupé! I'd love one of these, superb burgundy pimp velvet interior. Spanish-built renner 5 saloon Nice rot-free mitsubishi colt. 2) 'AUTO RETRO' scrapyard: Mk1 cortina 1500GT 2-door!!!! MOTHER! A rancho! I fugging love these. If one of these simca vans came up for sale i'd be tempted. Looks in good nick! Euro market Taunus! Bit of a prang on the rear wing otherwise V smart. This is a Taunus RS! never knew such a thing existed! I think its a german 1600E equivalent, cool interior. Alfetta! mint doors on it too! What a waste! The feller was mega approachable and chatty, a great place. If anyone sees owt on here that they can't live without, i've got his number and can enquire for you. SERIOUS ENQUIRIES ONLY THOUGH. Next, a VW show! Normally I avoid VW gatherings like the plague but the sun was out, I had loads of time and I thought of you lot. Check these out; What the hell is this? I tried to photograph the front suspension but it didnt work too well. This guy had made a big notice for his widscreen which said 'I LOVE COWS', fair play to him. Looks expensive.... for sale, 1200 quid. I saw some other cool metal such as a mint TA60 celica but only 'in passing' hence no pics. Thats yer lot, hope you like it cos it took a canny while to make it into one big long thread like that!!!!! ;D ;D

SUPERB pics! That scrapyard place looks like somewhere I could happily live on-site, and spend a LONG time taking lots and lots of photographs The jacked-up-Beetle is a 4WD thingie, not sure of the exact name but someone else will know. The french are definitely into their VWs, have a look at the galleries on www.flat4ever.com/ ...

The ladder thing is quality, imagine using that as your daily driver, popping out in it to get a greasy sausage and egg sarni or something. Superb.

What an amazing scrapyard! Looks like they have everything there - the two early '30s Peugeots in that open shed look like 201s, with a 202 / 402 series Pug further along the row (behind the 2CV), and the rusty pre-war car next to the Rancho looks like a mid / late '30s Renault. That Panhard (PL17?) looks great too, but what is that dark blue estate? I initially thought it was a Pug 404, but comparing it to the other pics, it doesn't appear to be. Fiat perhaps?

White car (in front of Simca 1300/1301, 1500/1501? Estate) is a Panhard ...I think.

I initially thought Fiat too, but TwincamGTI says it's a Simca, and comparing to this I reckon he's right.

Yes, I see it now.
The angle & width if the C-pillar are near identical on the Simca & Fiat though!

Yes the Simca styling and Fiat I have to say did look simlar. I think Simca 1300/1301's & 1500/1501's look very stylish The Estate had a novel false boot floor which you could take out and became a Picnic Table ...honest My Father had a Sedan version the 1501 'Special' (The rust certainly was ;D) complete with Multidial dash, plush interior and extra Cibie fog lights. ...when it was only about 10 year old it had to be scrapped due to rampant rust! ...and I forgot to nab the Cibies off it

That Mazda 121 is truly lovely, some very odd detailing. On previous trips to France it's always surprised me how many of the later 929 saloons and coupes you see around, the latter with pop-up headlamps. Were there many of them still kicking about?
Also remember there being quite a few diesel-engined Datsun 280C.
Great pictures, they make me want to go again.

What's the car with the boot open next to the 2cv? Excellent pictures by the way, I love these kind of threads. Cheers, Greg.
