Yep, the Benzie has a fresh 12 months ticket. Most bizarre MOT test ever - i did half of it myself! Very happy today! I have to sort a couple of fuel line leaks but apart from that I'm good! ;D

Well, the guy was on his own so I did all the lights and stuff - dunno how my headlamp alignment got through cos I just bolted a unit together from spares after my original one got smashed killing that Corsa... must have judged it right! I did the brake test aswell (!) but it was all hunky-dorey and not pulling to the side at all. The handbrake needs a bit of adjustment but he let that one go ;D. No rot underneath so that was cool. Emissions were a visual check (yay!). I got a ruptured fuel line that will need replacing, and a seal has gone somewhere on the carb, but that didn't seem to trouble him... We just had a laugh chatting about old motors - he has a 75 Cadillac, a Minor, and a load of other things - always helps when the tester is an old car enthusiast!

engine stuff won't fuss them unless it's affecting emissions or something else they test (servo killing your brakes, etc). they're just not bothered with engines at all. which is good my mot place has an old rover p6 tucked away in the corner under a sheet.... it helps me pass if i start admiring it whilst he's testing my car as he forgets to notice things like headlamp alignment and windscreen wipers

Quality......now i want pics! The guy i go to has been doing MOT,s for 30 years and he loves older cars. he always lets me help with test and we were chatting for a good 40mins about cars after. Hes not looking forward to the computer system thing, but for some reason their computer keeps blowing up! incedently he drives an E28 5 series with later M5 running gear!

MoT stations like that are great. When I took the red one for its MoT, he put it on the ramp, up in the air, then couldn't get the slidy jack underneath the car to lift it up He said it was the first car ever that he'd had that problem with! They are always great, and pass it on the condition I get it fixed asap, and sometimes do the certificate but give it me when i've done the work. If only they were all like that!

make sure u don't "forget" about those fuel lines dean. don't want another scrote incedent lol Sal would kill me. Scheduled fuel-line replacement for next week... and a carb rebuild as that's curse word fuel about 5mm from the downpipe. Lovely! He couldn't get the sliding jack under my Benz! With the aid of a crowbar and some chocks we just about got it under.... and here's me wanting it even lower!
