I wouldnt use paraffin as it is a very light grade of oil! Use white spirit or something, or maybe petrol.

And ask about how much paint do you need to respray a whole car, changeing the colour too, so i'm talkin inner doors and engine bay, the lot... (just a rough number)

That would depend on the car - a big Volvo will need much more paint than a Mini!!!

use some thinners to wipe over the parts if you havnt any spirit wipe, and use some etch primer otherwise the lovely paint finish will flake off.
don't use parafin as already mentioned and don't use petrol as that will leave soem contaminats behind i always use spirit wip/panel wipe as i always have soem around and its cheap £7 for 5 litres i think last tiem i bought some.
and for respraying a whole car.....
for a mini you will need about 3-4 litres of paint to do a respray but wouldnt gaurentte there being enough to do all the other bits and pieces such as full engine bay, I used a little over 3 litres to paint on my GTM and thats a small car put there is a a few coats on it to give it a full deep shine

(just a rough number) Two light coats and one heavy coat using just under 4litres will make your car go from this.. to this... as long as you prepare it properly. (engine bay not sprayed in body colour)
