You always see people with tiny front number plates and sh1t heap vans with them on the dash board because they have fallen off.
Does anyone know what the plod would say if you had it in the front window? I want to cheese cut my front bumper where the number plate sits to aid cooling.
Any idea's?

depends on the plod in ure area. bent the one on the imp down so it faces the floor at 45 degrees so ya cant read it - no probs yet. depends on what car it is too i think.....theyll hammer you if its a small hot hatch....no as much so if its a retro cruiser.

Never had any probs with my small one on my Mini, they don`t seem to be too bothered if the one on the back is legal. Doesn`t do any harm these days to keep a legal one in the boot just in case .... Oh, and stick the legal one back on for the MoT

I like long walks, especially when they're taken by people I don't like.

the pikes near me at uni rolled a wheel into the front of my car. Not only did the entire front panel of the car gain a massive dent, it also smashed ny number plate in two. Ever sincethen its been residing in my front window, with no troubles what so ever.

never had any probs with the one on the shuv which is even obscured by the spotlamps. I think your more likley to have a problem if you have plates in a stupid font (ala early 90's Lax Power crew)

Got black and silvers on the mini,
Bearing in mind its a few years too new for them (1996!) the front is held on with wingnuts at the back and the rear is held on with velcro, and the original plates kept in the boot for the "whoops officer left the show plates on" conversation!

depends on the plod in ure area. Too right. Unfortunately the police in my area are fascists! (no offence to anyone who's a copper - unless you live near me ) Had my number plate angled up slightly (ok, a lot!) so I could get my car onto my drive, and I used to get pulled all the time. So I put it in my window and got pulled even more! Then they start complaining my tax disc isn't mounted in the right location, etc etc blah blah............

Never had any problems with the plates on my Amazon (IIRC, either BenzBoy or TonyCC described the front one as gnarly ;D), although the letters do need touching up occasionally for the MOT. They are a filthily cheap set that were already on the car, and are easily visible to the naked eye, although both the backgrounds aren't quite the regulation white or yellow!! Not hugely reflective either....

Aparantly it has to be located bottom left so as not to obstruct your view. I made the point to the officer that it was not interfering with my view as it was behind the mirror, so was in an area I couldn't see anyway. He made the point of giving me a producer. That's how it works down our way.

What is a vehicle licence? A vehicle licence (commonly known as the tax disc) shows that you have paid the necessary vehicle excise duty [VED] for your vehicle. It shows the registration mark (number) and the date up to which you have paid VED. You must display this disc on the left-hand side of the vehicle's windscreen. If the vehicle does not have a windscreen fitted, you will need to display the disc on the nearside of the vehicle (the passenger side).' Doesn't say if it has to be top or bottom, so you should be ok. Can't be centre, so the cop was right. Still a bit petty though.

Jabbo, the plod where you live must be very bored if they give producers for that! The tax disc on my Sprite is in the centre (in front of the dashtop mounted mirror), and it's staying there: (top left is a Midget and Sprite Club sticker).

How about having the front plate on a loose pivot at the top so that when you get to a certain speed (say 30... ) it swings up so you can't see it... that would have plod scratching his head when he pulled you for not having a front plate...

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.
