Ciao Retrophiles.....
New kid, long time Retro Rodder and an all around Gear Head looking in here to see what it's all about.....
Having spent the last 30 years building everything from bikes (with pedals) over choppers to Hot Rod & Kustoms. Spent the early 70's building & riding Harley Choppers in Sweden and some time in the late 70's got hooked on the California Look VW Scene, built a couple of Swedens first Lookers, one with a Porsche 912 power plant & trans was street raced in Stockholm with good results. The 80's & 90's was spent in So Cal building mostly Hot Rod Harleys, the yellow Ape Hanger monster driven by Mickey Rourke in Wild Orchid was one of my first Customer Builds after that a string of Hot Rod bikes were built for friends and such. My personal rides in Cal was everything from a 1957 Porsche 356 to a 83 Cad Coupe De Ville Lowrider with Pro Hopper hydraulics, a couple of custom Ducatis, a Harley XR750 and a buch of VW Type 1 & 2, mostly 1962's since that's my favorite year VW. Moving back to Sweden in the late 90's I did not touch tools for some years, I consulted in the IT-biz and drove nice new (company) cars untill the bug bit again and I dropped it all to do what I love, right now I work as an Aprilia MC & scooter dealer/tuner (at Starol Racing and live in the countryside with a huge bike workshop at home where I build some insane PVC-scooters, BMX bikes for some semi pro riders and there's the 1969 883 Sportster in a corner and a theft recovery Ducati Monster wich I have plans for.... My GF rides a verry special bike, it's an Aprilia Moto 6.5 designed by Philippe Starck, cool ride and both of us spend much of our free time riding or wine tasting....
The last two winters have been a pain, snow, snow, snow and shoveling all the time so for this winter I have been looking for a traktor to make living in the country a bit easier. Found a mid 50's Volvo BM Boxer sitting in a shed at a farmer-friend-of-the-family, we made a deal and it's now mine, next project is to get 2 tons of Heavy Metall transported some 600km's to my house. The picture was taken of it last winter for an add that never came about and during the spring it was used for a while and the cab was removed but otherwise it's in the same shape. Plans are for, when I get it home a suede black paint job with some pinstriping Hot Rod Style, the wheels painted red and a set of Moon Discs fitted to the front wheels, some form of chromed exhaust stack, King Bee head lights, 59 Cad tailights and some odd Hot Rod touches all to be able to plow snow in style.....
So what do you think, is this a Retro Ride, or?
I also have a daily driver Skoda PickUp (same truck as new style VW Caddy), right now it's getting all the rust taken care of and some Hot Rod touches like a suede grey paint, 15" steelies with 175-55-15 tires & Moon Discs, the Mooneyes theme is going on with a bunch of stuff from their catalouge, the suspension is slammed and when it's all done up I promiss some pix of it, not much for taking pix and showing of, someone wanted to se pix of previous and present rides of mine, sure there have been some Kodak moments but most of it has been lost in moves across the continents but I promiss to keep you updated of what's going on in the DP Race Shop.....
