WOW! epic build I was going to "swift" my clubby but fell for the swift so have some stupid mini ideas going on ATM. I'd have gone for straight exit pipes if it was me. They look a bit awkward facing up like that and down would look a bit "diesel" could you pinch the system down pitching the boxes upswept and then angling the exit in a downward direction from the boxes making them come out level from the valence? A lot of faffing around since you've made the system already and maybe not possible due to space. really outstanding work, hats off to you

Hi Ed,
These somment soming from you is very nice. I have seen what you are doing to Grizz's(Rian) van, Thank you.
I know what you mean by down will be too "Diesel". I have perforated pipe to fit in these bike cans as they look too small for future proof.
I was thinking of turning 90 degrees and coming out straight with bigger pipes. So what you are saying is what I was thinking of doing.... Like you said a lot of work for cosmetic but then again, I will be making bit more performance-ish.
So, I shall start my exhaust when I finish my gearshifts, then.
Cheers Atchi

Hi, I have started to work on gearshift set up. I'm not sure if I even try using Mini one. Like Marcus said, I have tried to fit seat, steering wheel and pedals. My seating position is perfect for me when I made EPS so they can stay where they are. I have taken out cross member stiffner completely before and I thought it will be good idea to fit something in. I found this rectangular box section with material thickness of 1.5mm. You can see as white things in my photo. Then I have mounted my JDM CRX seat for me to do brum, brum! With this imaginative driving position, I came up with Swift gearshift. The stiffer/stay will go over the tunnel(for the moment) and gearshift itself will be below the tunnel. I cut it into 3 sections and all welded back together. The main part is cut off and made it upside down as well as straight rahter than angled as original. I have a box already made for it to mount and I think I will be cutting box section grafted into tunnel so that stay can be under the tunnel to seal the passenger compartment. I will be working on the actual gearshift tomorrow and I might even modify it to a quick shift using OEM! Cheers Atchi

Hi, I managed to finish Swift modded gearshift. I sta on my seat and all I need to do is move my hand only little to the left and shift is there. I tried to change gears and it goes in 1st and second OK. Unfortunately, I haven't got cltuch sorted so I couldn't try to shift into it. I needed to cut tunnel a little to get it where I wanted. So I have to fit reinforcement in. It came in form of 40mm square tube. I will be fitting a modified cover on top as well to seal it tight. Cheers Atchi

Hi, I have started to make floor mounted pedals using a Citroen 2CV pedal box. I have heated up clutch pedal and bend it the other way and did extra thing to be able to fit what I have done so far. One thing I know for sure id to extend a gas pedal and may be hinge it at the bottom. It look likes I will only lose 4cm from std setup of my leg room. Cheers Atchi

Hi, I have been bust making floor mounted pedal box and driver side rear subframe mount. When I cut up my heel board for my floor mounted pedal box, I needed to modify driver side rear sub frame mount. I have now welded in 1" sqaure tube with plate which has 2 nut plates welded on. With this mod done, I can start working on my pedal box for sure. Since I had Garling MS, I thought I can start to build it. This is what I came up with. The issue I have with this setup after talking to Jimmy as well as technical staff of AP racing, I changed my mind to make dual MS setup. To do this, I needed to make brake pedal which I can fit 2 MS to it. So, I cut up dual hand brake to make this. Then fit it to mock up so that I can see if I can mount them or not. So, I can make them to fit into the space I got. From this, I made CAD drawing for me to send it to laser cut place to get 3mm steel cut to how I want it! Cheers Atchi

Hi, I managed to get both special short MSs and laser cut frame work metals. I will be heating metal plates to middle plate shape. It will bolt up OK and my drawing work worked. All I need to no is heat metal up and shape it so that I can weld them together to make pedal box. This is what MSs will look like when I fit them to brake pedals. Oh I also run out of welding wire last weekend so I couldn't do anything other than tidy up my tools. Cheers Atchi

Hi, I managed to almost finish off my floor mounted pedals now. What do you think? Brake side. Clutch side All I got left do is to make floor mounting plates. Also, I think I need to grind off little bit so that it clears locking nuts. Cheers Atchi

Hi, Today, I managed to trial fit my pedal box in to check everything is OK. I know part of steering cover bolt is hitting my MS for the rear brakes. Also, I think I need to make panels to enclose my pedal box but not MSs. This is how it looks. It looks like this from front. I think I lost only 50mm of my leg room compares to std. Cheers Atchi

Hi, Thanks rottie. I have been busy for seasonal stuff! Anyway, I have been managing to do little bit at the time. I still got a lot of things to do for this pedalbox. 1. I have to make clutch pedal assy mount. 2. clutch pedal clearance under neath. 3. Make it water tight! 4. extend accelarator pedal. Cheers Atchi

Hi, It has been long time since I have up-dated. I can't believe I'm on page 11 in this short period! Now Christmas is over, I was hoping to start back on my mini but kitchen floor got in the way! Anyway, I managed to get hold of '70-'80 original "Big foot" pedal for hid... I mean extension for my go pedal. The difference is in size. The old timer is 6" tall and new one you can buy is 9" so it is too big. Thanks to Jimmy, I got mine sorted! This is my mock up of it anyway. I will be making some kind of a hinge point and a pedal assy is from my mk1 Gti. Cheers Atchi

Hi, I took day off so that I can work on my car today. Guess what, I have to go in for urgent e-mail followed by 20 phone calls! So, I didn't get much work done but I managed to finish basic of pedal box setup. I have now a functional clutch, brake pedal with twin cylinders and floor pivoted Big foot pedal. I have now mounted my seat to try out my pedals with a steering wheel I'm using for a feel. I have made pivot under the Big foot pedal. It may not look much but I did spend nearly 3hrs on it. I have to now tidy up under neath and weld panel to make it water tight! Cheers Atchi
