the reason being for the above, chap, is, whilst it is an amazing idea and one I really, really wish would work... ask Daverapid about the 'forum car' idea for a mk1 rapid that needed rescuing. Less left than you have fingers and just ONE person put their money where their mouth was. And that was a forum dedicated to the same type of car... That's exactly the kind of view I am trying to avoid. If my mate fails his driving test, does that mean I shouldn't bother myself because I'll be doomed to fail as well?? It's what people are willing to put in that will make this work. The more negativity displayed, the less likely it is to succeed, so thanks for your confidence in the idea and the other members. ok. I watched the same idea try and completely fail (sadly) with a really rare and (honestly, IMO) MUCH more deserving car, especially when presented to the very people genuinely strongly interested in the car. Thats where I'm coming from. But, I can do positive. I cant help with time or skills being in a different country, or with finance as I have my own 15 projects already...BUT i can do encouragement and donations of anything i have that will help. If you decide to do the budget rip-off of pimp my ride, I have about 6 14" tvs lying around that work but aren't needed! I have an old ridiculous fibreglass spoiler that wouldn't suit in the slightest! Also I reckon something like that v12 BM that was up for grabs real cheap lately should provide the engine, and drivetrain! VIP is the most obvious direction with it... but I'm definitely agreeing with a crew-cab, be-spoilered candy orange v12 pro-street hydraulics popping facelifted custom with leather bucket seats and colour coded dash. ![:-*](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/kiss.png)

how about a pickup conversion on the VIP style... I'm rubbish on the photoshopping lark but can see it from my 3rd eye..... (ooo-er thats sounds a bit odd) using the rear window and pillers moved forwards to smooth out the picup bed. body colour rollbar sides extending towards the rear in a smooth sweep to straingthan and tie in the rear bed to the cab a bit more giving it a more smooth look. rear doors deleted. 19"ers close on pulled arches. in a nice offwhite/sand paint smoothed. hidden exhausts. on bags (or hardslam initially) gold tint windows. baige flock dash and interior. embroiderd shag carpets. oiled light oak or ash bed.. just an initial 2 min think...? si

I cant really offer anything skills wise but I work in a Toyota dealership (in Scotland though) and should be able to get some descent discount on any parts needed. A small contribution I know, but a contribution all the same! ;D

I like the idea of the mooneyes style or the vip look This however is very cool ;D I ![](http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i251/bruceholder/Retro/Camry/Camry002.jpg) Reminds me of the hot wheels Deora 2 ![](http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n193/Major_Tom_01/356631839_ee2cbcd3bb.jpg) Sadly I'm a bit too far north to help out in any project but I will keep my eye out for any interesting engine wheels or what have you for it. Annoyingly a mate of mine just scrapped a twin spark alfa 146 a few weeks back (it was rotten) that would have been an interesting conversion.

Had a go with a previous attempt that Kee made, and don't think it looks too bad for MS Paint ;D. Obviously my idea is to make that cumbersome back into a pickup ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) ![](http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/merc-owner/Untitled-1-1.jpg)

Hmm.... Compare the shape of the D-pillars: ![](http://www.oldtechnology.net/images/allegro2.jpg) So, anything that works on an Allegro estate would probably work on this. Which leads to the obvious... lose the C-pillars, and do a 2 door conversion! Possibly a massive headache, but would be an awesome effect IMO. ![](http://pictures.topspeed.com/IMG/crop/200706/ebay-find-of-the-day_460x0w.jpg) I'm also wondering if the '50s custom show-car look could work? Panel highlights/scallops/over-styled flames etc etc? ![](http://www.johndagostinokustomkars.com/images/56_Packard_Caribbean_34front.jpg) ![](http://kustomcarpictures.com/%2749_Fleetline_Front_Scalloops.jpg) ![](http://kustomcarpictures.com/%2756_Chevy_Purple.jpg) ![](http://kustomcarpictures.com/%2758_Impala_Mox_Miller.jpg)

Very rough and ready roof-removal, with epic- wang wing ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Apologies for the pish-poor background, it would've taken too long to do properly. Same with the lighting on the wheels. ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/ghostfacekillah2uk/Cam02mod1layers.jpg)

I'm liking some of the ideas! Prefere the pick up idea to the roofless ones though although I think the roofless ones could work.
I too would be interested in helping if I can!

I'm going to be thinking on a twist here. Interior wise, touchscreen based 2din car pc with nav/mp3/reverse comera/dvd/mobile broadband and a couple of infrared lit front facing cameras for a H.U.D (second small LCD, small prism, small fresnell lense and and slighly opaque patch at the very bottom of the screen) while night driving. See what the guys over at MP3car.com cook up in their sheds/garages and kitchen for fun. And for the motor, how about a pre-CDI Merc turbo diesel and a huge Holset turbo. Run it on cleaned re-cycled chip fat to give an eco aspect to the motor and an easy wire up. Push it about being eco/green as well as modded. I like the idea of a VIP stance, but woodie surf or saltflat with moons would work.

I was just joking, but that's a cracking idea! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) . Personally I really like the shape of the D-pillar, I think if you lose that you'd be left with a pretty faceless '90s J-tin motor. And as we all know, wagons are for winners. Woody/Moon wagon/'50s kustom would be hot. And realistically achievable.

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.
