I reckon VIP style would work well on this. A very rough P-shop later... Like that ^^, but with a JAG or Bimmer V12, much larger, shinier 5 spoke american wheels and flared arches. I like the idea of an RR-car

I'm trying to catch up here... Woodie idea. That looks amazing!. Gets my vote. If it gets within 100 miles of Newcastle i'll be up for a weekend blitz, I'll dos in a travel lodge. Liking the idea of scalloped paint work too, or how about some lace pattern.

Amazing ideas and responses guys....just the sort of thing we need. Thanks for all the input so far along with the offers of help, storage and parts. Once we've got a few more designs in, I guess we can start a poll? Once a design is chosen then a parts/request list can be drawn up to see what we need etc... Anyone fancy photoshopping the following ideas that members have suggested? Salt flats style BTCC racer Nascar Pro-street/Pro-touring I'm amazed no one has come up with a Boso style yet...

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

:)Bit of an explanation to what Surprising Skoda has said: I bought my yellow Mk1 Rapid 120 with the intention of it becoming a Skoda Owners' Club G.B. car, the idea being the members of the Club forum would contribute to it's restoration. The name on the V5C was to be S.O.C.G.B. and the car used to be a promotion tool for the Club. Obviously for me saving a very rare Skoda from scrap was nice! Sadly, despite my [and 1 or 2 others] enthusiasm for the car, the Club and it's forum my ideas came to nothing because everyone was skint, too busy, washing their hair, got a headache blah, blah....The forum has now changed, in that it is now nothing to do with the Owners' Club, but that's another story! The good news is I restored the car myself, and it's now a very good example of a virtually extinct car. :)Anyway, enough of that, this is RR. I think this Toyota project should go ahead and I will support it when and where I can. Unfortunately I have the same problem a lot of others do, no time, money, blah blah, but am willing to help in any way possible. As some of you may know I manage [or at least try to ] a small garage/MOT Centre in Royston, Herts. I'd be delighted to offer a free MOT test for the project car although depending on where the car is at the time that might not be viable due to cost of fuel ect. Also, if there's any advice needed regarding what's legal/not legal MOT wise regarding modifications ect then of course I have access to MOT manuals ect for information. I can't/won't do owt dodgy, but I'm sure you know that goes without saying.

I think it's a little different when dealing with single marques as there are never hundreds of regular contributors. With this site people only need to chip in a couple of quid to make a difference, or offer services (such as yours). Not to mention it's for a good cause. If an open top is your thing how about an aero screen woody, like this, But with a flat bed rear, like this, Appologies for the picture steal. Then we could display all the "other modifications" on the back at show etc. Though maybe give the large quantities of pork a miss.

Solely because I have been typing Moon Eyes in to Google a lot recently, but what about something like this? It's already a pretty smooth looking car so we could just smooth it a little more, drop it lower than snakes belly and matt black the hombré up? I haven't had a chance to shop it but a lovely old logo sign-painted Retro Rides logo on the side might be nice! The focus would pretty much be on doing things as opposed to paying for things which would make it a "group build" in the truest sense of the word? I'm loving the idea of running it on chip fat as well!

Porsche 924 - gone Citroen Saxo VTR - not very retro but I loved it - now gone... MK4 Golf GTi 1.8T - gone but hardly remembered... Mini Cooper S R53 - gone BMW 125d Coupe - gone (mostly sideways)
Ford Focus RS Mk1 - hello low MPGs and "wanna race me" at every set of lights... 1973 BMW 2002 - Twin 40's, 284 Cam, Revolutions, E21 Recaros + more Porsche Cayman 987 3.4S - here and due to cost me more money than I have

I suggest Pope/Pimp - Shooting break? brake? argh... , roof raised instead of lowered, low, bigger arches and Merc style alloys. Not that I have the time, money or skills to be of any use, but the opportunity to say Pope/Pimp is not one to be squandered.

Now that I like! I could just see that with a nice V12/V8 and sitting a bit lower.
Delete the rear doors and place a nice armchair/lazy boy bang in the middle facing out the back!

Random thought, if this is gonna be a Group build, is there any record for a car with the most previous owners? You could transfer the V5C through all the people involved (well as fast as Swansea will process it anyway).

rofl Tycho! epix idea:P
Also: loving the pickup idea. When i gets my pc with potatoshop on it back (going through a break up atm, things are all over the place) I shall see what I can do.
I'll also attempt a couple of the others - I was also amazed that nobody suggested Bosu yet, but then I realised we're on RR, and Bosu on J-tin is FAR too logical, and that's just not RR.

/\ /\ /\ That is awesomes and also very very do-able.... seeing as merc rims are pretty damn common! I also love the roof-less / mega wing / no doors idea as well, but one question..... is the idea to keep it, for want of a better word, 'tamer' and as such a zillion times easier to keep road legal or are we going 'out of the box' with the potential fact remaining that it may not be able to be made road legal? P.s. FWD Rover V8 with zoomies gets my idea for the powerplant Also, I'm willing to help with spannering / welding / most things (I'm not the greatest at any of them, but hey I'm willing!) and also would probably be willing to donate my merc rims if there were appropriate..... (17x8.5 Et35 but no dish) Also have 4 x 32mm universal spacers if necessary!
