I've been lent a Reliant Scimitar GTE for the weekend and all I can say is WOW!
These cars are seriously cool! The model I've borrowed is a '77 SE6a with the 3.0ltr Essex and a manual gearbox with overdrive. What a car!
It looks the bees knees in blue with Slot Mags and a full length webasto roof and goes like hot snot. Big long hills that up until now I've just about got over the top of in top gear I suddenly found myself backing off the accelerator half way up it! This thing's an animal. Tomorrow I might get the tape measure out and see if the 24valve Cosworth engine I've recently aquired will fit.
Smiler.

Do you reckon? I do love the 'tina to bits but there are lots of 24 valve converted 'tinas out there now and I don't know of any converted Scimitars. Also, the Scimitars a proper sports car compared to the 'tina. It's got Triumph TR based double wishbone front suspension and a four linked rear axle with watts linkage.
I'll still convert the 'tina first and see how it goes but I am seriously tempted.

I've had the odd look for a GTC since my daughter arived but wonder if they are as good to drive with the roof missing. I have a TVR 300M which has not seen the road for about 7 years, but that is just the same as you discribe to drive. Effortless.

Thank you. When I get time I will tell you about the rest of my collection none of which are on the road at this moment. But I do have a plan. Just got to get this new house sorted first.

Welcome I've had the odd look for a GTC since my daughter arived but wonder if they are as good to drive with the roof missing. Shouldn't make a difference as the Scimitar has a separate chassis and also the GTC has a 'T' Bar (like a Triumph Stag.

True that, the steel chassis holds much of the strength anyway. I say go for it, they're well cool! The 24valve conversion would be a bloody beast, I take it you'd be messing about with the suspension and brakes as well?

oh yes, though the fundamentals are already there. It would just be the usual bushes and shocks/springs. I might see if the brakes from the Cosworth Granny I'm scrapping will fit.
I'd idealy like a pre-73 model as I prefer the interiors of the older cars and it will save on the road theft licence.
