Here's a nice selection of odd retro cars, mostly living in the US of A. I always find it interesting to see what European and especially Brit stuff wound up over there.
Pretty much all of this stuff has come to my attention via the for-sales, so this is a snapshot of whats changing hands about now.
A couple are Aussies.
Anyway, have a looksie
Tidy '78 Saab might be a turbo. Not sure.
Fire up the Quattro etc. This one has some "rare" rally spec wheels, tuning, lowered, etc.
1985 Mercury Merkur XR4ti. Looks kinda familiar. Did they sell them over here for a while?
'86 Porsche Ruf
'87 Audi 4000CS Quattro
and one I really can't imagine selling in the US as a new car...
'87 Pug 505 Turbo-S.
this Imp is in Dorset but was linked to by a US site, they reckoned the $12 USD price tage seemed cheap, but worried about shipping costs
VERY clean Jensen Healey
Resto'd Tiger is on bigger inch rims
Be Bond
Beautiful old Alfa
1951 Glaspar. These fascinate me.
DB2 was a barn find.
Dodge Pickup, picking 'em up
Nice restified C1 Corvette
OOOOF! Daimler Conquest Roadster. No mention was made of the c.1956 Packard on the trailer ahead in the ad. I'd take both really.
Old Alfalfa racer was advertised with this pic, which I suspect is somehow not so recent....
1959 Standard. Compare this to a 1959 Chevy Biscayne or whatever. Wow. What was the original buyer thinking? Odd find over there now....
This is a 1960 Goliath. As I recall they were German and perhaps in some way related to DKW. Anyone know any more without me resorting to Google or Wilkipedia?
Cute, no?
A Peerless is a rare find in the UK let alone the US.
Cool tow rig too...
1962 Fiat 1200. Lovely.
Same year this was Renner's idea
racer version of the Caravelle.
and again '62 sees the MG B Sebring, this is an original works racer and was up for big money in the US
'64 Galaxie is more my cup of tea.
although this "XKE" floats my boat, mostly due to the colour combo and th wheels.
Proker 356C not a VW Beetle kit. This one is set up for some vague form of sports car racing. I think.
Rally Alfa Taxi?
HAWT 'vette racer is a '65.
Lil Lotus is all race prepped for historics over in the US and lives in Oregan IIRC. $50K would get you this...
I was rather taken by this '65 Lancia Fulvia sedan though
Have a butchers at a selection of Beemers. Some "interesting" US market features on some, and some nice mods.
This Lola is Ford 4 pot cosworth powered. 1974 vintage. I didn;t scope a price.
altough this would be an ace tow car. timewarp condition '76 Wagoneer
although theres not much this Unimog wouldn't tow either
this is a retired Lotus "endurance racer" from 1978.
I'm really quite taken by the Bizzarrini strada 5300, just for the name
The above was on GarlicBay.
Nice Merc 250C is in the US despite French spec lighting and German plates
Historic racing AMX gets my dander up in all the right ways
1972 Iso Lele is in Aus
Background looks like the UK but this '73 Alfa Berlina is in the US of A and the $3000 price tag seems reasonable compared to a lot of the older stuff for sale there now.
this is hawt ('73 Alfa)
But this is special. Full rally spec Renner R8 of 1973 vintage. again wonder what its doing in the US. How did it come to be there?
cute though and looks reall fun.
