ive had this issue on 2 triumph engines,,,one with knacked valve guides,,,,,and one that had totally knackered valve guides and rings
valve stem seals tend to cause more smoke on overrun when the manifold vacuum is high so will let out a brief blue cloud at gearchanges and a continuous oil cloud if going down hill off the throttle piston rings tend to let oil through under load so will continuously smoke while running if those are buggered

Best start building up that spare engine ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) Shopping list Goetz rings - much better than OE and quarter the price Over size throttle body, bored out injector rail holder, decked head and bit of easy home porting on the head - you know who to call for advices ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) After all if you are gonna build an engine you might as well get some extra free performance, should help the third gear drifting

I would have thought that the valve stem seals should be ok on that head. The head was a total refurb by a very well respected member of ABS. (the same person also owned an LC with nearly 200k on the clocks!!) The engine block in your car is the original, so i would say it is probably getting a bit tired now with all the abuse that's been thrown at it!!

Ok, I will have another guess at the exhaust, you got me interested ;D Will it be twin exit but in the rear quarters or something like that? at higher level? I don't want to guess and ruin the suprise, but I can't help it ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) Lewis

hello all, havent updated for a while, and this is a bit of a none update.
Basically been a silly depressed muppet and havent touched my cars or tidied up the yard like Id wanted to in my months of leisure. Oh well!
Anyways, whilst driving along the other day someone suddenly turned the volume up on the senators exhaust. I thought that maybe a weld had cracked or Id warn through the under axle hump. Had it up in the air this afternoon and...... well theres nothing wrong with it! no leaks, no cracks, backbox still has its internals... I'm confused! The only thing thats happened is the tailpipe has fallen off, but surely 4 inchs of pipe cant account for this much volume increase (and general raspyness / poppy-bangy-ness) ?!
Any ideas?
apologies for non-update

As long as it sounds better - is it a problem?
Maybe it just decided to get more into character with the car??
Funny enough - losing a short run of tailpipe can have quite an effect on the acoustics, so this may well be the reason. Just enjoy the new soundtrack ;D

When I put the bozo style pipe on the Rover it changed the note, even thou it was just a 2 foot lenth of aluminium bodged on the backbox ;D So I guess even loosing a really small amount could change the note. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) can't find any photos of my Rover!

Hmmmmm, guess it falling off would tie with the sudden increase..... just seems wierd! Pops and bangs a good'un now though! MM The reason its a problem is due to the fact I was already too loud for a lot of tracks! LOL ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) But yes it does sound nice ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) Will dig out my spare tailpipe.

No worries rodit..... already have a spare inlet manifold. Got loads of spares actually thanks to sootyrides again! Small bump, mainly so I can actually find this thread! jeepers it was well hidden. Sooooo driving a long t'other day, and bwarp became BWARP!! BANG BANG GRRRRR GRGRGRG BWAAAAARP"Ah nuts, so something IS toast on the exhaust then." Drove home, parked it up.... Today.... started it up for a video (see below) of comedy loudness, only for the obvious running problems to show their heads.... looked where I could hear the blow and discovered the problem ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) Pretty simple fix! Anyone want to guess whats gone wrong? haha!
