Right then chaps, bit of a query. Our unit landlady has these two beauties stored away next door. Any ideas on what they are and any possible value ? I know the red one has an Audi badge, and the green one an MG ? Both have been previously restored, and are running, but have been off the road for a while ( owner past away ) As ever cheers in advance. J

Even though, you say it has an Audi badge...the red one looks like an Opel Kadett to me. Audi didn't exist then either.

The MG looks like an MG YA.

The MG looks like an MG YA. Definately not an MG (also the YA was postwar) - it's an early '30s Morris, probably a 10/4, and I'd say it's 1934(ish).

You just beat me to it...a bit of knowledge and a bit of googling led to: Morris 10/4 This one seems to share the same colour scheme...and that chrome strip around the front of the cowl area.

Yes I'd say the Green one was a Morris 10.
The red one could be a pre war Opel Kadett but ... ... it could also be a postwar Moskvich 400/401. After WW2 the Russians took the tooling from Germany for the Opel Kadett and produced it as the first Moskvich in the late 40's early 50's.

The 'Audi' badge you refer to would be the four rings representing four German Car companies.
Horch NSU Wanderer DKW
Which created the company ... AUTO UNION.

...AUTO UNION DUETSCH Ing......AUDI. which means something or other in German, probably "expensive volks wagon" or something. It looks a like a Standard flying eight almost.

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.

August Horch, who founded Horch, later left to set up Audi. Horch means 'Hark' - Audi is the Latin equivelent. Also, IIRC, NSU didn't start car production until the 1950s, and was taken over by VAG following the warranty claims from the brilliant but flawed Ro80 bringing the company down.

True, that does look like an Opel to me. It could also have been an early Moskvitch but for one thing. The Mosky was a copy of the Opel in every detail but one - it was longer and had four doors. Why? Some bizarre whim of Josef Stalin apparently, wherein he decided that the Opel he had ordered to be copied should be modified to have four doors, but still be an accurate replica. Erm, sure thing Joe! ;D ;D Although I doubt anyone questioned his logic, he did kind of have the KGB, gulags, and big black motors with empty potato sacks and chains in the boot waiting for anyone who doubted he was more equal than others. It looks a little like the Renault Juvaquarte as well.

I think those pre-war Kadetts sold well in this country.... something to do with them being cheap, thanks to Opel being heavily subsidised be the German government......

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.
