£375? VALUE!!!1! Excellent purchase. There's no such thing as a useless landy, especially not a long one.

Oh, and where can you buy NATO green paint from? This place sells it by the tin www.leavesley-international.com/there are usually a couple of suppliers who advertise in Landrover magazine too (might be cheaper!)

If its solid underneath then its worth every penny we have 3 military land rovers at our gaff now only one is an ffr with 24volt electrics, they are all slowly getting 200tdi's, This is the FFR never taught how to rust when on active duty in cypress. Since this pic its had a new hood, insa turbo's on nato green modulars, and the 200tdi, just wants a snorkel and some fresh nato paint (keeping the original sand colours) ExMOD ladrovers make so much sense much stronger chassis and axle, higher ride height and lots of nice little things which make them better. Incidentally if you don't want to do a 200tdi conversion but fancy a diesel I have got an uber rare 2.25 turbo diesel coming out of a landy soon. (personaly I would do a 200tdi)

I'd like a Diesel to help with fuel availability and because it's less volatile to handle in hot weather once we get to Morocco. What sort of money are we talking? I understand 200TDis are £450ish, which is way out of my budget for the trip :/

Picture the scene - Last Sunday morning, Manchester airport. Autohausdolby buys a Land Rover magazine of some description. Fifi: When I get home, is there going to be a Land Rover sitting on the drive? AHD: No! Fifi: Course not, my car lives on the drive. Will there be one on the road in front of the house? AHD: That would entail buying a working one. Fifi: Will there be one in your workshop then? I've met you before....
This thread appears 4 days later! ;D

Hopefully Julian will approve my Plymouth-Dakar Morocco off road challenge application in the next couple of days so I don't end up with a useless Land Rover ;D Top man! Excellent choice for the Ply-Dak, you won't regret it!! Just don't forget to take plenty of tow rope and some smug shades for when you pull all the other suckers out of the sand ...Autohausdolby buys a Land Rover magazine of some description....This thread appears 4 days later! ;D I need to make sure you never meet my wife So far she's been VERY understanding of my car buying antics...and hasn't quite cottoned on to the link between me reading forums like this and an ever increasing fleet of cars appearing outside our house ;D ;D ;D

BTW how much external sign is there of the FFR kit?
I had my very own "Midnight Express" experience at the Ceuta border post on our trip. We'd fitted CB to our Landie but didn't know the Moroccan border guards viewed CB as military kit and they take a VERY dim view of any thing "military" coming into their country.
We spent about eight hours in the border post - we were one of the first of our group (~40) in and the last to leave. It was the only time on the whole trip I was actually frightened.

W00t! Have received e-mails back from the man with the Land Rover and Julian. Looks like we're in for the rally, and I've spoken to the LR owner on the phone about collection.
It's not going to be for at least a week, and I've got to figure a cunning way to get it home without shelling out to much cash - I need that to sort the engine/buy a hardtop etc....
Updates to follow as and when!

The conversion kit is loads of cash - £400 or so. Unless there's a cheaper way.
