Apparently Volvo some 740's and 760 have 1031 labeled axle and it's one of these that I'm looking for - I don't know how to identify this other than what I have above - any volvo axle gurus out there please feel free to comment
Alternatively Rekord E 2.2 Wagon or turbodiesel 2.3 and some Commodore C's have a suitable Opel axle however my chances of finding one of those is probably thin

Might be worth asking on www.rwdvolvos.org/forum as that's were most of the 2/7/9 series guys have ended up after the demise of the Volvo OC's forum

I've got a 760 back end that i'm thinking might be too big for the cortina. No slipper and i don't know what the numbers are but i can find out at the weekend if you want.
