Well....Few years back we started doing scalextrics drag racing. I bought an Escort cosworth of ebay to do as a project and turn into a drag racer. Basically I stripped it out and stck more mdern fatter tyres on the back: As you can imagine it isn't that fast!! So peeps what can I do to make it fly and beat the modern stuff? And where do I buy the go faster bits from. Oh and I wanna see you stuff, be it stock homebuilt or modified!!

Fly cars are generally very quick if you wanted to rip one of them apart, but alternatively faster motors can be bought. I bought a couple of 30k RPM motors a while ago but messed them up because I was too tight to buy the tool for changing the gear.
Got them in a little shop in Leighton Buzzard which isn't there now, but I'm sure the 'Bay' will have what you're looking for somewhere.

There's whole sets of rules and different fomulas already exist for various level of modification, and different scales, mainly 1/32 and 1/24, but also 00 for tyco/tcx type cars.

RS500 with larger back wheels OMG! I had one that I modified exactly the same with a rear axle off a Porsche!!! I had to modify the arches somewhat, but it was a fairly good car after the mod'. I found that it sat too tall before and fell over a lot! ;D

Here's a couple of mine. I have some more modern stuff, but we're not interested in that now are we? Cosworth modified similarly to the one above. I remembered that the porsche wheels I had on it perished, so it inherited a set of wheels off an RS200 I bought for £2 at a jumble sale. It went fairly well once I'd put the wide axle on it............. Rover SD1. Ex Police car. Bought off eBay along with an XR3i. Filled in the holes and stuck DTM Calibra wheels on. It's fairly well planted on the track but could use extra power. This was my attempt at a scratch built car. 1/32 Airfix Cobra model and a cut'n'shut Calibra chassis. Didn't get very far with it, but you get the gist. Wish I could find the MK1 'Scrote I put big arches on and attempted independent rear suspension. That was, erm, interesting on track. I have a feeling it's buried in the garage somewhere. Might try and dig it out later.

Love the Rover!
That Cobra, are you sure it was an Airfix 1/32 kit? Never heard of one before :?

Thanks, I quite like it myself. Could use an overhaul though. That Cobra, are you sure it was an Airfix 1/32 kit? Never heard of one before :? Think so, it was a few years ago and I've lost the box, but I could be, (and most probably am!), wrong!

The 1/32 Cobra was probably an American Revell or Monogram kit, I'm positive Airfix didn't do one.
I should start building my 1/32 scale slot car version of my Sunbeam Imp soon. I've got most of what I need.
