Well soon to be anyhow.. got big (albeit small budget) plans for this! Coilovers, P-slots and not much else! lol Needs a couple of little bits for MOT (horn, Handbrake lever is broken, and 2x small plates) but otherwise is in good fettle throughout. Tis a 1.1 Carb model, with 88k miles. Want to go as low as I can without cutting the strut tops and raising both them and the engine mounts etc... The roads around here are curse word.. but hey, the sacrifices we make eh? At least I have my own toy to play with now, especially since my wife keeps nicking the other car... Anyhow, will keep this updated as I go along!

13's and 65 profile's saw the gearbox mount kissing tarmac on my Jetta, no reason you can't get unpractically low on 14's without cutting anything.

That looks a good honest example! A few battlescars but full of charecter I like the idea of dropping it uber low, should look excellent! Good luck with it, lots of pics when you start the mods!

well, should hopefully have just secured some P-Slots and the next things is the suspension! (oh and the little matter of an MOT of course).
the Welding is being done this weekend (fingers crossed) and the other bits i will be playing with one night later this week.
having looked around at coilovers it seems i need to be wary of certain sets only having 20-95mm drop as opposed to some going right down to 120mm (which is what i am after!)

that last one is ace,, been rading his build thread.. lot of chassis mods to get to that height..sadly I'm just going with te coilovers (upto 120mm) and the P-Slots.. that should see me good for now... Oh and a polybush kit for the rest of it whilst i do the suspension.. as its sooo cheap for those bushes!

Nice little bargain then, hope the P-Slots work out too - they're a great looking wheel. I know where there's one of these Golfs up the road from me in that Orange/Red colour that VW seems to be key on - the guy has fitted a turbo diesel lump from something into it and he never ever ever uses it! Always thought of buying it and doing your "drop it reeeeeal low and hit the P-Slots (or them Porsche Design 90's)" This is like Inverted Rat - decent bodywork and shoddy, rusty wheels!!!

lol @ Inverted Rat...
i agree.. i was going to paint the wheels black until i had the dosh to get some Low Pro tyres for the P-Slots..
Am aiming for coilovers but have just come across a set of 80mm springs and dampers at a good price... hmm money money money eh!

Slam it. P slots ( in black ! ) done. PLEASE PLEASE don't add any dents or sand down the paint - thats not cricket at all ! AND - the chrome surround grille you have has massive scene tax attached to it, wack it on the bay and get enough money to pretty much recoop all your expenditure.

don't worry, wasnt going to try and rat look it with more dents or sanding etc. just not panic if it gets a bit of wear and tear here and there etc.
I was thinking black P-slots with polished P's as a turn around to usual..
failing that, i do like the Woodgrain effect covering on the slammed blue one up above.
I didnt know the chrome band grille was so popular?
might be worth parting with it... what sort of value do they hold?
