My MG has developed a really annoying creak over the past week so i investigated it further today. It was only making the noise when pulling away, so i got my dad to put the handbrake and try pulling away, whilst i was lying on the floor looking underneath to try and listen to where it was coming from.....and to my suprise the diff was loose!! and pulling upwards..everytime i pulled away so i got in on the ramps to find the bolts attaching the rear axel to the rear spring plates loose a bolt missing from the rear anti roll bar mount and a bolt attaching the prop to the diff was loose I paid to have the diff replaced at an MG 'specialist' so i really didn't expect to find this, i have got to the stage where i don't trust anyone working on my cars anymore A quote from the website of the place that did it, 'Our technicians have many years of experience in the restoration and repair of all types of vehicles including Aston Martin, Jensen, Jaguar and MG. All these skills have been forged together to create one of the finest teams of MGB restoration specialists in the country and as such we attract work from all over the country and Europe.' My ! can't even be bothered to tighten bolts....

Ar$eholes aren't they?! Going by the little quote from their site about their expertise attracting people from all over Europe... a- They talk a great deal of sh*te about how good they are if they can't even tighten bolts properly. b- There must be customers all over Europe who're currently underneath creaky MGBs calling them a bunch of w*nkers! ;D ;D ;D

Bloody hell! Name and shame 'em! I'm terrible with trusting people with working on my cars! You'd have thought they could've finished the job properly couldn't you?! I mean, what if they'd have done the same standard of work if you'd have asked them to do the brake calipers or something? Could've been really nasty

Well i am well truly hacked off with them but i don't think it would get me anywhere going round and moaning at them. Just noticed my standard seat belts have dissapeared from the boot!! that i left in there after i fitted my harnesses Got no proof it's them but i don't where else they would have gone and the wiper stalk i paid for them to supply and fit was meant to be brand new but on closer inspection it looks 2nd hand (colours of the wires are discoloured and not nice and fresh looking like the indicator stalk i've fitted). Just goes to show you an never trust anyone, no matter how nice and genuine they seem But one good thing to come out of it is that i'm going to be making more effort to do the jobs myself, which will in turn save me loads of labour charges and i will know it's been done right!

Was this specialist MGOC approved? If so, inform the MGOC.

I'm sure we've talked about it before but cant we have a section on here for recommended repairers and 'shamed' ones ??.... it would be great to build up a national database type thing.... ??

Problem with them its basically our work against theirs and it can be a bit dodgy,... Could start a thread and I'll make it sticky?

Seriously though, they could have someone up on libel charges, and they'd have a case as well, because they could say they're losing earnings through us lot calling them a bunch of w*nkers, and someone would get done for it. So it's best not to do it!

Hope you have no problems, i got a very good impression of the blokes doing the work on mine which is why i'm really suprised at the lack of quality of there work. I don't think it would do the site much good having a thread slating certain businesses as it would just cause more problems than it's worth. I won't be naming the place that did my work as i still have buy parts from there as they are cheap and i have no alternative places to go.......so don't want to get banned from the shop so to speak! However a thread simply suggesting good places wouldn't be a bad idea!

If I were you I'd ring the garage up and let them know what you've found and give them a chance to defend themselves. At the end of the day everyone makes mistakes and if these guys have got a good a reputation as they say they have they'll be able to take criticism on the chin. I'm not saying get on the phone and start effing and blinding cos no one likes that, but just telll them your a bit dissapointed with the standard of their work. They'll probably offer you some kind of compensation to keep you sweet. I'm only saying this from the point of view of someone who works in the motor trade and likes to get feedback from customers wether they're satisfied or not. If the guy who worked on your car is a new employee who's bluffed his way into the job and is gonna make a habit of doing this kind of thing its only a matter of time before something more serious happens.

True that, you'd be doing the company a favour if they've got an incompetent t*sser working for them and they don't know it, because they wouldn't look very good if he f*cked up someones brakes and killed someone!
