Heres a wee topic on my current nova- But first, my old one: Bought back in 2005 (I think!) as a std 1.3 sr with astra gte alloys and 138,000 on it (good old 8v motors!) Drove it as it was for a while before wanting to fit a redtop, but with lack of money or anyone to do the work I ended up having a 1.6 nova gte engine fitted: Then fitted a magnex stainless steel 4-2-1 manny and system which was fine until boxing day 2006: Basically locked up in the wet and went straight on into a tree! Anyway not one to be defeated I went in search of a replacement shell, and struck lucky with a one owner OAP special with 34,000 on and a wide variety of parking dents! However this was all about to change as I guy I knew who had recently bought a nova was selling it to but something diffrent, enter the a-reg: Was originally a 1.2 with a custom piper cam, ported and polished head, weber carb, a piper exhaust and an 'unleaded petrol conversion' but when the crankshaft seals went my mate had a 1400 ohc fitted: Which didnt run right due to the air filter sucking in too much hot air causing it too cut out. So when I bought it I then decided to have the 1600 engine fitted : And how it looks today: Then had replica 1.3 sr vinyls made up: Then replace the 'red' interior With the SR seats Needs a couple of bits tidying as it is nearly 24 years old, but genearlly very happy with it at the moment. Comments welcome.

Yeah sorry thats an old pic ive put the orange indicators back on it, kinda needs them to break the colour up a little, also added the vauxhall badge to the grille as I love the original front end.

Looks tidy that, those wheels are probably the best Vauxhall ever made! As for coil-overs...thats not an easy upgrade, a good one, but not easy.... Oh, and I'd remove the bump-strips on the doors to, makes them look much cleaner!

I'm planning on leaving the bump strips on and painting them, and the bottom of the doors grey (at some point!) as its an sr replica. Got a nasty bit of rot to sort out on the sill first though.

Nice car mate, SR seats are super comfy! My mate had a 1.3 SR in yellow as his first car it rawked, until the floor pan fell to pieces

Kinda ironic making it look like an SR but it actually packing 1.6 power ;D Would really love another Nova especially an early SR like your yellow one - cracking fun little cars. I bet your water ingress problem is due to a hole in the battery tray - this happened to my F reg one, nothing that a bit of s/s mesh & wag didn't fix ;D Can remember fitting a K&N filter aswell & it not agreeing with the Peirburg Carb to which it was fixed

After the yellow one I realised how much I liked the sr look, plus having a load of 'spare' parts left over it made sense.
Its not mega fast by todays standards keeping it looking a 1300 is always more annoying when newer cars get wasted!
Once bodywork/paint is complete i'd like to get it running on twin webers or possibly bike carbs as they seem to work well on cars.
As for the leak I'm not sure, the battery tray is solid which is kinda strange for a nova, initially I replaced the door rubber seals as there was a bit of a leak from there but gonna have to check other areas.
Thanks for all the comments everyone, only recently joined up but loving the variety of retro cars on here.

Was about 2 mins away from my house on the way home on thursday night, about to go left at a roundabout when the guy next to me in the left lane decided he wanted to go straight on and whacked into the passenger side!
Hopefully going to claim off him as he was in the wrong, but had to limp the car home as theres a major knocking in the steering, bent up front wing, the mirror fell off and a series of dents in the rear arch!
Just when the car was close to being finished ive gotta start over again!

Well been out for a closer inspection last night and the knocking turned out to be the inner weight s of the alloy catching on the track rod end! Put my 'spare' 15" on and its ok but when the steerings straight the passenger sides pointing outwards, had a good pull/check on all all steering parts and nothings loose so hopefully its not too bad, well, mechanically anyway. Had a quick drive down the road and besides the obvious of it pulling harshly to the left, theres no knocking or bad noises. The body work though: Well you cant see too clearly from the pics but passenger wheel has some serious tow out! But it shows how much the front wing's gone in. Not bad considering it was an omega that did the damage! Only problem is the rear arch has partly separated from the inner arch, so the bodywork alone could easily write it off.
