well, the other week I had a clearout, sold the celica supra(get me, I sold a car!!!), my 20" wires, and a load of other bits. then I bought this ;D - interior is cool as fook, if you like a bit o brown brown velour everywhere, including the quited door cards, followed up by tons of brown plastic and fake wood, and lots of electrical widgets and doohickeys. far more than i'm ever used to seeing, and even more than our '93 jag xj6!! whats more, all except one of em works! funky boot seat, takes the seating capacity up to 7!! powerplant- VG30 3L v6, just over 150hp as stock. not a bad motor as stock, if a little weighty. shares the block with all other nissan V6s though........... its in pretty good nick overall, a couple of broken bits of trim (which the guy I got it off is supplying me with off one off these hes breaking), and a slightly slippy clutch, which I think may be caused by an oil leak. it pulls reasonable fuel figures, and will make a good towcar. I ended up paying 600quid in the end, with 10 months mot and 4 months tax. they're easy to lower too ive already ditched the tapedeck and fitted a CD player, I need to make a new surround out of some black acrylic yet though, will look sweet once the gap round its filled, the black face fits in well, fairly unobtrusive. I also debaged to grille, to keep people guessing... still got that foggy headlight to dry out and reseal yet. then I went over the bumper rubbers with the heat gun to bring them back to black rather than faded grey. ive also got some very interesting things lined up in the wheels, brakes and suspension department

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I have the rims, they need paint and tyres then can go on. bronze-gold colour with polished rims and a slight stretch I may need to add spacers to get them to fill the arches the same F+R though. rear is live axle on cart springs so I just need to order a set of blocks and bolts from the states. front is strut, a little more complicated, I think ile go adjustable coil-over, fairly cheap and very effective. I 'think' the random wood on the boot is stock, and it might have had it down the side originally. I was looking at some in B&Q the other day, cant decide if its a bit too en-vogue for me at the mo though it may also be too much going on with the wheels being bronze/gold and stuff. I want some wooden bead seat covers though!!!! stu, i still need to sort out getting that subway ring off you, not been able to get in touch with the lack of 'net, whens good for you?

you may of taken a pic of the boot and posted it, i'm not sure, only a few have loaded, if you haven't can you?
I love these cars. Like MAJORLY.
my grandad bought one new in 84 ( it was a C reg ) - C172 TSA. He kept it for a few years then passed it onto my family. We sold it in the end after the power steering failed and we were very skint. My early years were spent in these.
The wood on the boot is standard and cool as fook imo.
Doesn't it have electric rear most windows? and an electric ariel?
omg - I want this car.!!!!!
sorry, i'm getting excited.

hmm, maybe I should have checked insurance prices before purchase its group 14!! mainly cos its pretty bloody quick for what it is, even on a classic policy it only drops to group 6, which means its gunna be 500 quid to insure. bum. looks like i wont be buying snazzy beaded seat covers or lowering bits for a while....... but at least that price is with the alloys, lowering/coilovers, stereo, etc. all added on. I think its worth it

Nice buy Dez! The estate I had a few years ago was £500 and much tattier than that (still a great drive though). Lovely old things, a pleasantly odd mix of distinctly unsporting looks, chitz-tastic interior and a surprising turn of speed.
Some people would prefer the manual that estates came with, but the auto ‘box on the saloons is really rather good and shouldn’t put anyone off (saloons more common in any case, by a ratio of about 4:1 based on original sales, so more chance of finding one of them).
