Hello all, this is my first post your your rather good website so please forgive any mistakes I have made! I have hankered after a project car for many years, so I decided to take the plunge and a lazy sunday afternoon on the bay-of-E produced this.... £66 later it was mine. JURASSIC PARK! A week later she appeared on my drive way to keep my mk2 Golf company.... Note this is the one time the bonnet will stay down for many a month. The diagnosis was a blown head gasget, makes a change for a VW huh? Add a knackered clutch cable and some non existant brakes i figured that the 'rocco would be a perfect first project! So some more pics for your fancy.... First the rump.... The other side.... Front with a DIY De-Baddged grill.... Finally the 1.6 rip-snorting engine I have made some progress but pics are on the camera still, I'm a lazy sod and havnt put them on the computer yet. Hope you enjoy tho, and i shall hopefully update the thread on the weekend if you guys are interested.. Looking forward to your responses!

Ta for the messages guys, but I'm gonna throw a real big bad boy of a spanner in the works by saying......deep breath......I really like the front fogs. Honestly I do, so I'm afraid I'm gonna be a wee bit different.
As for the engine, believe me I would LOVE a 1.8T but Mr bank manager and the old enemy Mr insurance may have other ideas, but never fear he strength of a VW engine, Ive blown 5 head gaskets on various Golfs, as have my friends, and they always come back stronger. Kinda..... With this in mind I was offered a ported and polished head that was too good to say no to. The journey has begun!

What a bargin! What plans have you got apart from replacing the brakes with ones that actually function Yeah brakes that work are kinda usefull! Took a front wheel off this morning before work and snapped all the wheel bolts in half which was interesting. There was also no disc securing screw, even more interesting. So thats the first plan, please god no changing a wheel hub! From there who knows! So many ideas, so little mechanical knowledge and funds. But I'm so interested in bike carbs which I think would compliment the sporty head perfectly. Also Ive heard a rumour that a cam from a 1.8gti mk2 golf/scirocco inj sends the carbed 1.6 into a frenzy and you get impressive power outputs for pocketmoney. I also have a Weber carb kicking around so thats gonna get fitted as the Turd-berg carbs VW insited on fitting are curse word poor. Then its a case of a nice zorst system, but I'm a tight-ass so that may wait! But i figure that should push the all important BHP figures into tripple figures. I have next week off work and a pile of parts collecting slowly in the garage which includes a new interior from a scala By the way dude, you don't know of anywhere apart from Der Fatherland I can pick up some clear front indicators? Cheers for the interest!

Oh yeah Ive seen those, really cant justify that much cash on two pieces of plastic tho. Feeling brave and risking the showers to get cracking on the brakes at the mo, should have some more pics up towards the end of the week tho!

thats a lota muffins for clear plastic I wonder if thats scene tax or are they that much for other makes Oh my friend its most certainly scene tax, I think it may be some sort of garden shed operation as Ive been told by many places that they are obsolete. There is definatly a gap in the market for somebody to make these themselves over here and make a tidy profit. Oh to be good at moulding plastics, the money would roll right in

Dude thats harsh! But in all fairness the dreaded MOT is a far distant dream for me yet! But on the plus side I have so far found 78p kicking around in the car. Its almost paid for itself.
You had many issues then so far with yours bud?

Not so much, i'm back at work after the weekend so the car is miles away from me. All work and no play makes me a dull boy!! My da told me he found another leak though, this time in the back windows.....said he opened up one of the rear ashtrays and it was full of water. I got the wrong brake disc and air filter so tomorro i've to collect the right ones from that GSF parts - i find they've been very helpful and they seem to be very cheap in comparison with other places. Still having no luck with a weber carb, i want one i want one i want one.......i'm gonna hold my breath until somebody gives me one!!

Right, so aside from deciding weather the new Architects album is as good as the first, this week I have mostly been doing brakes... Before.... After... And out the back...... Before... And after... Now those who were paying attention may remember I bought an interior too, now I don't have a picture of the old one, but needles to say it was long gone. Very ripped and very faded. It looked like sunlight had sent the colour in the bench from grey to purple. I'm not PIMP enough to pull off purple. So heres the jobby complete with handbrake gaiter from a lotus I have next week off work so expect more updates, subject to my town not vanishing due to the impending monsoon on the horizon.

Good price these roccos still. I got one a GTX about a year back for £67 and needed brake lines for MOT 6 month later, that was it. Could have given it away come MOT and got 6 months fun (including 24 santa pod runs) for the price of a meal for two!
They look great if you lose the side rubbing strip and arches (although you may find mister rust under the arches).
