Mine was already sealanted-up when I bought it, and never had a single trickle of water. Mind you, it was an ex-register car so most of the common points had been tackled (filler pipe, clutch cable-bulkhead join etc)

Right after all the interesting wather in the midlands the project is go again! First, the ported and polished cylinder head gets put together.  I sprayed the manifolds to help ith appearance and added a cam from a GTI MK2 Golf, an old VW trick with the carbed 1.6 engines. Finally added a newly sprayed rocker cover and strips  |

Spraying that cam cover makes such a difference there, i was just looking at your water bottles (oooo, Matron!!) and they look so good black.
Have you any similar cam tricks for the 1.8 engine?
I'm having trouble with the rear brakes on the rocco, how are yours?

Yeah definitely a cool project! This is proving a great source of ideas for my first project, an e reg rocco gt! 157k and some niggles (like the head gasket on this one too funnily) but very tidy and sound which is the main thing. retrorides.proboards86.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=readersrides&thread=1187433543&page=1Will be nice to follow the progress of this build, and may bother you in a month or two regarding the ins and outs off this cam change (very busy with work at present so its just planning at the mo). |

How do Leigh, now the bloke you need to talk to in regards to cam changes is "mikehorsb" on the Scirocco Register. I think he used to work for a VW tuning company or something along those lines anyhow! He certainly knows his stuff.
In regards of my rear brakes, mine look to be fine, its the fronts I'm currently having issues with, getting ready to bleed them AGAIN if the rain holds up lol.
