Good price these roccos still. I got one a GTX about a year back for £67 and needed brake lines for MOT 6 month later, that was it. Could have given it away come MOT and got 6 months fun (including 24 santa pod runs) for the price of a meal for two! They look great if you lose the side rubbing strip and arches (although you may find mister rust under the arches). Oh god no I'm not so brave as to remove the kit and rubbing strips! What you don't see wont be an MOT fail! There seems to be a bit of a resurgance in the old tarts currently, can only be a good thing. So many bargains to be had and a reasonably rare car for the individual in you ;D Just curious what were the times you posted at the pod?

Right a wee quick update on the front end... I have a friend who works with fiberglass so he made me a grille, and the eyebrow is an over the counter jobbie. Decided to spray them the colour of the car to be a bit different too. Hope you all like!

very eighties throwback indeed, similar to the old reiger(i think) grille that they did for the mk1.
rocco resurgence? reckon so, values for very clean cars are on the rise, the register forum has grown by about 1000 names in the last year. Features a real core group of committed rocco fans despite the best efforts of the more polo/golf oriented forums or magazines to either ignore or diss them. Filmidget on here has organised a register stand for the show so we hope to have a few cars there - including either my valver or the scala - still deciding plus hopefully some still to be unveiled mk1 rocco loveliness........
saw you comment re lack of feedback from register, we have had some issues with membership applications which are being sorted. At the moment the forum is the best (free) way to contact us.
cheers

Thanks for the interest in my motor, I have recently joined the forum at the register so Ill get cracking on making some friends. So envious of your 16v by the way you git!

oh and ta very much montythemole too, very interesting vids there, you werent kidding about the "very fast MK1 Golf" either! Still 16secs is awesome figures for a car of your spec. Although your choice of "choons" disturbs me somewhat Never been to the pod myself let alone done any times, but I'm hoping to go when the rocco is running, or when I finally bite the bullet and get a G60 "limited" dropped in my MK2 Golf. Ta for all the interest dude!

You should check the Midlands meet thread on the register out. We're at the Midlands Air Museum, Coventry I think, on 22 july. At this stage approx 25-30 roccos from all over plus a few corrados will be converging there for the day. There will also be a register stand at santapod this sunday for the GTI Summer Festival, plus presence at VW shows Tatton Park, Harewood House, Edition 38 plus RR too of course. Southern Meet at Beaulieu in September too!

Cheers GTXTRA once she is running I will pop along to a few Rocco meets. Be worth it just to see your 16v in the flesh! I should be at Ed38 as its rude not to go really but I work sundays so I have to pick and chose shows these days unfortunatly.

That's coming along nicely. We don't have roccos in Oz, apart from a few private imports. They are one of my fave H2O dubs and I will be watching your thread with interest.

Leigh I swear everytime I take a look in the boot theres a little puddle. But in a different place everytime. Think somebody told me the rear light have a rubbish seal which also helps water in so may be worth checking them too?

Another update, things are progressing nicely! This weekend I took off the cylinder head, the first time I've ever attempted the task. I was surprised how easily it was done. I also cleaned the bulkhead and chassis legs etc. Got through two cans of GUNK. A Picture Also sprayed the expansion tank and washer bottle black, cuz I don't like to know what kinda fluid levels I'm running. Colour coded the bottle caps too... I'm dreaming of an uber tidy bay, I may get carried away.....

Just a quick update as I was very lazy this weekend. Made me some tail lights with some spray paint and tones of laqure. thought id go for that rather than tining spray, makes it look more 80s if you ask me. Had to hand paint the strip between the indicator and tail light black after. what you guys think?

Think somebody told me the rear light have a rubbish seal which also helps water in so may be worth checking them too? The random Rocco boot leaks are (in my experience anyway) almost always down to the curse word light seals A smear of Halfrauds black silicone usually does the trick if you haven't done so already.

Funny, that was my plan for when i get home tomorrow. My boot edge seal is actually missing a piece where it must have been nippedor cut or something but the majority of the water is from elsewhere
