Am I the first?! its a mk3, retro? sort of, its a 1989 on an 'F' and you know what old vans are like, disappear quickly! OMG what have I done!!! I have out done myself this time, insurance was a pain in the ass, and still a few typos, we need to resolve... Also this had done 3 years with the GF's dad as a builders van, its had NO real service! it has MOT till feb 2008 though and brakes work, windows work (good old winders, missed em), erm, 1/2 watt sound system, free slugs and snails, and spiders, text book mk3 attempted theft steering cowl thingy. what else, erm builder fixed mirrors and dash items a broom to hold tailgate up, he even quick fixed the drivers door, much ripped seats and carpet,,, and doors you have to lock from the inside, oh and what we think is a wonky wheel bearing. Now what upsets me most. this engine is a 1.1, the musician who ran it before GF's dad had a new/recon engine fitted with an extra 100cc Woo! so was a freshish engine but no service in 3 years its not boasting power and free revs! it revs ok at low revs (no counter so i'll say upto 3000rpm, complete guess) but nowt else, shifting through gears at low revs still gets me tailgating at green lights though, but it cant be well. Been too busy, reassure me it will get better with full service, sure it will! ok so here I am pushing the 'potential-barrier' in a darrenW Quorsa stylee, so I expect its marmite. please be nice though. i've got it now, i'll do my best with it to make it nicer on a budget while the others get sorted.... PS anyone got bits drop me a pm, cheap bits wanted. So? be nice, remember this is retro rides. Thought about keeping to do something insane like RWD, or mid mounted 1660 crossflow, but I got enough problems already LOL!

Hey funny you mention the bumper, better see what you have in stock... ---- Forgot to mention, it feels like a van too, durr, yeah I know, but its a propper scaled down shagged Transit this one. wont spend loads of time or money on it,but lets see if we can make it funky and acceptable to live with... Glad the Sapph went to a good home! I'd tax and insure the Fezza, meanwhile sorting out the 'Tina... the agony of having to use a Mk3 Fiesta as daily transport should spur you on to fix the Cortina in record time I reckon! Then do the V8 Sierra as and when really. correct! ;D

Quality! I should imagine a Mk3 Fezzy van on an F-plate is (whispers) quite rare! Oily mess atop the engine is probably down to a knackered seal on the cap, The Scrote is exactly the same, I just wipe it off once a week and ignore it. Likewise the revs thing....The Scrote kinda loses interest above about 3.5k, which in 5th equates to about 70 anyway...and who wants to go any faster with rubbish Ford brakes Drop a standard bumper on it, paint it Ermine White and drop it over some Lotus steels/hubcaps. Job's a good 'un.

Blank canvas!
Drop a lump form a 1.6S in there. I used to have a 1.6S, it was sweet. You could grey the bottom half, fit the wide steelies and huge spot lamps from a 1.6S as well. The 1.6S was like a subtler XR2.
I have an H-reg 1.1 pop in Met. Blue round the back, its never gonna see the road again, you are welcome to anything thats still there, it has decent doors, bonnet, one very good front wing, one saveable front wing, excellent tailgate and of course a set of black plastic bumpers which are good, although I think yours looks ok with the Si bumpers.
I think the seats are in better shape than yours too. Anyway help yourself to whatever you want, I don't want anything for it its all free as long I can still weigh the shell and toasted engine in afterwards!

Those Fiestas seem to develop a frightening amount of rot around the petrol cap!

Those Fiestas seem to develop a frightening amount of rot around the petrol cap! There's a fiesta local to me that has a hole the size of a fist next to the petrol cap, they must be made from the worst steel ever! Those Si bumpers really need to go! Why make it worse! The rest of it is ace though.

dollywobbler, yeah, i already have a plan, and an item in stock. just too round those bumpers and now they are well an truly scuffed they don't even do the colour coded thing that well! Samyboy!! Tell me more, I'm hoping a damn good service, and then another oil change or three will work wonders, plus maybe a freer flowing exhaust will help matters, though i don't want any chav farty noises! I'd love to sling in my mk1 1.6 but be a bit obvious and apparently too much effort to fit. looking forward to looting Vic's car. PS can lock the door now, either its fixed or he thought noone would nick it. ;D someone will PPS Gonna teach GF to drive in this, don't care if she hits anything, so long as its not a person or another car, or kills/injures us ;D

Excellent! Reckon that will make a good load lugger/parts chaser! Exercise windows FTW! Like you say, somewhere within there is potential for modifications to make it something pretty cool, but don't make it too pretty! Reckon a 1.6 CVH is your best option for a power hike

Thanks street. If you know where to start with a 1.6 i'd be tempted to give that a shot, or even better some rwd conv using sierra twink lump or summat. no idea where to start with wires and stuff though In the meantime i'd be keen to hunt down some (used?) xr2i springs and shocks, any ideas where to find these items cheap, or a better idea? Edit: its already done some lugging btw, full size bike with wheels off plus 2 dining chairs. then 21 helium baloons, boxes of catering food. A.V. kit and the rest. so long since we've had a good boot

I absolutely love it! ;D Once it's rid of shocking bumpers it'll look tons better - also i reckon orange indicators will help with the retro look.... Anyone remember the Fiesta XRV, they were mk3 vans, always seemed to be in red. They had body kits & standard rimz & hubcaps! Dunno if they were a dealer special - Vospers of Plymouth sold a few, or they might have been a production model - the tool of choice for wide boy handymen with gold, dangly earrings...

think I do, saw one the other night well a custom job, and it was on the acceptable side of things, not ott wheels, xr2i kit, and stuff, not bad, but needed a paint job. could not find a pic on net but if not overdone it can look good. this aint bad, but modern like and lexarse lights but some tidy features. don't worry, it wont go down this route.
