Mark - ignore the haters, keep the Si bumpers!
Then get it buffed up with some t-cut, and a nice diseasel in there for some chip-shop based fuel action.
wide wheels and slamming (maybe just fill it with bricks and tat?) are a given.
Sterling work there - you using it as a camper for the R-R show?

Could not resist an update! Been quite busy this weekend both me n Ms R, she's really enjoyed, undoing her dads dirty work and giving the van a mini pimpin, what a team! so friday niight, drained oil, first change in 3 years? it was black messy, and I mucked up the road A stubborn bolt in the carb meant fiter change was ticky so I snapped it! Woohoo its a Weber hiding under there! thats good news, is that standard? is the mayo owt to worry about too? also note cracked fuel line it spurted evereywhere when I started it back up! petrol all over the oil stains! luckily no explosions! So, service, check. Time to get over to top man Vicsmith's place. The 45mile journey was scary. with full time wobbles chugging at 60ish terrifying! Picked up bits after Ms R had clubbed me in the head with wrench, undoing the seat bolts! and chinwagged with Mr Vic Cheers mate next job get rid of those dangerous shagged tyres. Thankfully we had some in stock. another job with help from my glamerous assistant and we could not help ourselves with the interior, the mess was harrassing us. Ms R was unstoppable, so... a good sweep up here! with spiders running for their lives! made 3p too shineeeey still mucky, no wash in 3 years, time for this MoFo to get bathed, perfect time when its raining like hell! pulled out all sand from here and sponged down. Cleaned with Rimzorz Racing interior , nice n basic, tho a bit o waters getting in windscreen grot maybe... Engine lots more responsive now, qiute fun for a 1.1, and smooth riding, even if 75mph is fast enough on those shox/springs! Another trip to Vics next week, and a pile of other fun stuff coming up. oh and some brakes need checking.

What a difference! Nice to know that the van's in good hands, it looked like it was heading for it's last MOT! Standard bumpers need to be scored!

I can't look at paneled in rear windows without thinking of Dakar. I say rally raid it. Chunky tires, suspension lift, sponsorship. I'm thinking this; meets this;

Cheers guys, Nice idea Sammm. If i do keep it beyond daily duties, I have pondered doing it as an entry level rally, or grass track car. for now, i'm gonna pinch an inch out and have fun with the 1.1, though theres no shortage of cheap engine upgrades for later The tidyinging will continue with new panels and dash, only prob is, i'll have to work out if its all going to be Blue or Red! or both! ;D

Ahh well no pain no gain huh! Decided it was time to attack the horrific brakes. they worked ok at slow speeds but a grind on corners. well a whizz up the motorway on friday afternoon got me some sweaty palms! you know how silly motorways are on friday aft! not nice jab braking at speed, and the handlings not ideal either! So big list of jobs for the fleet, sensible job first. I have realised my tools are sh1te but they are getting better bit by bit, searching high and low for a allan key/hex key was hard I had loads. and No G clamp Luckilly Wickedbad came to the rescue, with a similar but heavier box of nice tools. still head scratching to get what we wanted, plus after much clubbing of the caliper once off, we realised it was time to get a G clamp off papa reanimation at 9pm last night. Sorted, competed both sides in the dark! done. look at that! Zero pad! and some broken curse word 'tools' Next up, smoke and electrical fire smells from engine bay! coming from bulkhead area near where wiper bits are. figured, so far, its a burnt out heater fan DOH! Thanks to Wickedbad, without whose help, i'd be in a big strop! cheers bud aimed at me and my vehicle choozing!

You are doing a cracking job on that - Car based vans are so damn usefull for parts collection - easy to muck out the back and just generally very functional My last one was this one Brilliant little bus with a 1300 engine and right short gearing Met it's demise unfortunately!!!! A bloody modern Vectra killed it Replaced with a 1.0 ex Anglian Water one - not half as good and sooo slow compared to the 1300 so got rid as quickly

Ouch! not hurt? Your not a short chap either, you tower me IIRC, Twas a cool lil machine that Metty. Cockpit space is getting tight in mine, been there bought t shirt etc! Might have to look at seat modz... Thanks for that big whack of encouragement BC, reality is setting in, as I calculated just getting the sierra legal on the road (insurance, tax, immoboliser) is £600 away alone, so may have to make the most of this lil machine somehow for a while . 200 mile since Friday, alot on motorway, its not so uncivilised now, just bank on some motorway gear changes a few extra horses would be nice now. Mark, no, little mention there, Papa Wickedbad apparently has one of these in diseasel flavour though.

And bstardchild - that looks like a brutal accident - congrats on walking away! Shiney vinyl seats, no transmission tunnel, cut down gearstick FT "get over the other side of the van asap" WIt was a will it won't it hit me accident - wildly spinning Vectra completely out of control - proper 360 after 360 (driver now a passenger - good call I thought - I'll do likewise) She overtook a Petrol tanker and seeing me coming the other way cut in sharpish - too sharpish rear bumper of her car clipped the front bumper of the tanker - I think she over corrected a tad cos it was a fairground ride after that!!!! Me I was just glad the tanker stopped before hitting both of us - even more relieved when he said he was empty

Save your pennies and buy cans of satin black one at a time and do a panel a month Love mk3s, suprisingly good handling and no expects to be beaten off the lights by one. Just can't help thinking it'd look better with stock bumpers and Pepper pots on, though those wheels are nice. Nice buy.
