He collected me once in a ghetto awesome 94 Fiesta with smashed rear window and top speed of 45mph ;D ! easy there sonny, I got 50 out of it That was my 1.0 fiesta. My dad had a van just like Marks but in white (more rust ) which was a 1.8 diesel, that I used for chucking 4a-ge in etc ;D Lol I like how my tools were just the same as what you had, so really we just ended up with twice as many tools but no useful ones ;D Note to self, really, buy a g-clamp instead of trying to hammer pistons back into calipers. It doesnt work so good Wasn't so bad all in all though, supremely happy you have brakes now considering what that one looked like when it came off Next time you're over for car fixing adventure drop me a line again was fun.

FT "get over the other side of the van asap" W Days before seatbelts? don't think I could ever bring myself to leave the drivers seat, although I'm guessing if there was a tanker coming towards me maybe I would!

FT "get over the other side of the van asap" W Days before seatbelts? Nope - but a fair bit of my body got the feck out of the way!!! don't think I could ever bring myself to leave the drivers seat, although I'm guessing if there was a tanker coming towards me maybe I would! To be honest it was the Vectra I worried about - the tanker was after!!!

Cheers trg, that'd be ace. I'm always available for help too. Hopefully work will recommence on the more interesting members of the fleet next, and some tidying of the van when I get the blue panels.

Arrrriiite! The stress of looming RRS07 is drawing too close. too many things to do, gotta be realistic.... Updates will come over this and next week. First up, a comical night on Twigzys drive (man is a legend BTW). Finished up 00:30 Friday night! Busting a head off a stubborn 18 year old bolt, stopped plans, handling is improved, but obviously not 100% It now needs serious pro attention. Another all time best too; 2 cars at the mechanics at the garage at the same time! Mr2 on ramp and Festa down below! Full report on this when complete. I am extremely stoked this far apart from the major prob and cost of sorting teh suspension hub body thingy Next prob is Cooling, simple you say, No fan operation and a guage that stays on cool. any experience?, gonna try change the lot... So I was due a bit of easy going modding fun while locating my mechanic... I'd planned to install my CD player and some propper speakers and heavy duty fat cable, but that was after i'd swapped doors, and dash n stuff, and thats not happening soon since doors are held in with annoying pins silence is only golden for so long. So singalonga: Ghetto Ice install the original crappy thing only worked stationary and was starting to make wierd digital farty noises! Working with current old stock... I wired in this old stereo that looks very battered, not sure what happened to it! Front speakers were a bit tinny, so wired in some rears, these Clarions (that came with my MK1 Fiesta 12 years ago), with nice skinny, new Audioline spec token speaker cable, and fixed the speakers propperly to the luggage protect, with the magnets of course! Audio fiends tell me why this is bad. it actually sounds very good, much better than MR2's piddly efforts Looking good eh? lost teh close up, ill post it later. Sussed out my seats too, more on this in next update ....

That is a cool pic! I'm loving what you've done so far, heroic effort by you and Twigzy getting it lowered! Ghetto stereo install is quality, love the speakers held on by their magnets! Wicked! Your definately putting your mark on this van, making it your own. Whats the problem with the cooling system? Does it oveheat a lot? Is the fan cutting in etc?

Johnny 5 is alive! thats what i thought! Terminator, robo cop n stuff too. I just hope the scum of manchester see no potential in it! Street no idea, the guage was not rising. It was only last week when it was left on for a bit and teh 'kettle' (expansion container) was boiling up ! but no fan kicking in. I'm gonna try get some spare tonight... Thanks BTW If i had a couple of weeks to concentrate on this i could have it how i want it, to be cheif back up vehicle, hopefully it will be something like but ratty by the time i cruise to RRS07...

Cool I know what you mean about having the time to get on it and do the work, this weather has set me back weeks! Ah well, least you will be cruising to the RRS! I'd start with the fan switch, sounds like thats at fault, but make sure you fans working by bridging the switch with a bit of wire, just to make sure theres no problems there first

I pulled the plug out of the thremo switch and connected the two terminals on the wire with screwdrivers. did not seem to play, I'll have a shot tonight and report back not exactly complicated, if I cant crack this I have no chance. Street if ya can afford day insure, and to get north to go south , you could drive MR2 to RRS07 if ya wanted.

can u wire the fan up without the thermo switch? itl constantly be on or u could wire a switch up in the dash to turn it on when needed then, its a total bodge but it saves u spending money on boring parts like switches
