First time I saw this in the flesh must be years ago, at old warden Hot Rod show way before I could drive. Looking forward to seeing it again. Oh and nattering about Oxfords. (Obviously) Top quality work going on here, keep it up.  |

Thanks nickbrad, 'Oxide. Look, some colour!  I'm, sure its the wrong way to go about things but by preping and getting paint on that much of it I can start bolting stuff on the car which will get it rolling and empty the boot of all the shiny painted suspension and steering parts. |

I can see your logic in the painting Seth, although I think I would have painted all the bay to save having to mask off the suspension when you paint the rest of it.

stealth, thanks. Probably just cos of the age you were when I was out and about in it last. craig, yeah it'd make more sense to have done it fully but I just *need* to get it on its wheels asap. cheers Em, Paul.  So, this afternoon didn't go 100% smoothly for various reasons, not all related to the Morris, but I did get something done. Felt like birthday time unwrapping all these goodies that have built up in the boot over time.  I've always wanted to do something like this so I mucked about like a tart for half an hour to take this photo.  One side mostly together!  I ran out of time to do the other side so only got the shock in place over there but did also loosely fit the steering box and idler.  The steering box will have to come off again to fit the arm to it I think and sort out its bolts. I knew I wouldn't have all the various nuts and bolts I was going to need so at least I've got far enough to make a list of what I'm missing so I can order it all in one go. I can do that tomorrow so that next time I go down there I've got everything to finish the job. |

You know my dad has a 62 Austin Cambridge in his barn, that my grandfather bought used in 1964 with 16000km's on it.
It's nice to see yours being saved, it gives me hope that some day maybe I'll fix that old heap.
What was the difference between The Oxford and the Cambridge? Trim?

teeone, I think I'm well beyond the point of giving up. Its never really been an option though at times I have wondered how certain issues were going to be resolved. The advantage of such a strung out process is that I suppose there is time for solutions to present themselves. morriso, only a suggestion that the rest of the car had rusted away and that is what was left on the floor funky, yes A60 and Oxford variants are very similar. Externally its grill, side trim, bonnet, rear wings and tailights/overiders. Inside its a different dash. Mechanically they're identical. |

Peep-O!  Here's where I'm at as of last night.  I've still not got bolts for the steering arms to hub so one track rod is hanging and the other side is bodged on so that I could look at geometry over the suspension movement.  I suspect the spring would bind before it got to that point but the outer spring pan bolts are touching the crossmember before my new short bumpstops touch so I need to make some spacers to raise the bumpstops an inch or so from the spring pan. I trial fitted one of my Cosmics as I had hoped to put it on the ground with them on but it hit the outer track rod end. So wheels for putting it back on the deck will be these TR ones, skinnies up front and dishy TR6 out back. I've brought them home to get some tyres fitted possibly today.  I then had a good sort out/tidy up with the various bits that had become strewn underneath, in the boot and inside the shell and bolted the bumper on for good measure.  Its already starting to feel a bit like a car again. |

Hey don't get too excited! There's still quite a way to go. But thanks anyway Slammage, no the flames are not in the current plan. But it won't be stock looking paint. So the tyre swapping didn't quite go to plan as the early TR skinny rims need bigger valves. I wasn't aware until today that there was more than one size. Anyway, the TR6 wheels have rubber on them now and the donor skinny rubber is separated from the wheels it was on so once the valves turn up that I've just bought on Ebay I may have a go at fitting them up myself. |

It's weird how quickly a car can go from looking barely started to almost finished just by putting a few bits back on. Case in point with the above, really. Fantastic to see it coming back together again, I look forward to whatever plans you've got for paint, especially after seeing a certain blue-ish Morris farina bodied estate earlier today.
