Well, seeing as my Morris mojo is starting to return at last I figured I should start a thread about it. Also recently found my stash of photos from the first couple of years ownership. Here we go, it's April 1995 and this is what I brought home to replace my written off A35.... I got bored of it being standard quite quickly (well, the front overiders and wheel trim thingies came off on day one!) and its slow transformation began. Custom made springs on the front and red wheels after a few weeks ownership This picture was probably taken that Autumn and is outside my digs in Fallowfield, Manchester. The tatty whitewalls and hubcaps have gone too and there's the side exit exhaust just in front of the back wheel (done at a friendly Kwik Fit!) I knew I wanted to flame it but also knew the back needed to come down a bit first. So that was next in the spring of '96 with the help of Stuart Holmes who then ran a Minor place just outside Leeds somewhere but went on to build various juiced rides... When I told mates I was going to do Matt black flames there were some (many!) doubters. I knew it would look right though.... So one sunny Sunday, again in Fallowfield out came the fine line tape and newspaper, off came the front end chrome and on went the paint. I had some help removing the masking... And, shazaam! I was chillin'! More to come....

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Fantastic. My Aunt used to have a Series VI Traveller that we used to go on holiday in. Very slowly. Was gutted when it went along with her 948cc Moggy soft top. Only mod was a cushion behind her back because she is only 4'11''! How she coped with the steering I'll never know!

It's funny that a few simple mods turned this into such a recognisable car... I remember recognising the Oxford when it popped up on here from it's many magazine appearances. I like it standard too... In fact I'm beginning to like them a lot.
Great looking at old pics too, I need to buy a scanner for my slides. I reckon I've got 3000 plus in store that need archiving. One day. ;D

Thanks for the comments chaps Slater, what's wrong with jeans and a Hot Rod Drags T-Shirt? Oh, the trainers, they might have even been 80's ;D Pheonixescort. If you're gonna flame it make sure you FLAME it trg1984, Oh there are some improvements. More will follow when I've sorted some more photos. Bryn, many magazine appearances? Only a couple in the last year or two, what with the Farina article in Classics and a little pic in C&SC buyers guide. As far as I know there has never been a photo of it in either SM or CC other than in the far background at a show.... More will come

I'll wait for all the hate mail but I thought it looked much better before you touched it. Looks more like an old banger ready to be mashed in the next race now tbh. Wheels look bare without the trims, sprayed up "banger-racing red". Just needs a big number 17 on the side or summat. Sorry: I suppose you can't please em all. What ever happened to it?
