(At long last, I have finally managed to sit down and write the 2nd installment of the Mustang saga... sorry it has taken 3 weeks!) You can find the first part here: retrorides.proboards86.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=readersrides&thread=1157667074&page=1#1157667074PART 2 - ON UK STREETS AT LAST!After what was originally supposed to be 6 weeks, yet ended up being 5 months, the Mustang went for it's MOT... and failed. Then a week later it passed! Sums of money changed hands and the Mustang finally was definitely mine!!! Although it was mechanically spot-on, it still looked like a total mess, but I loved that... just look at the huge grin on my face! I never forget the first day I took it into work. I was working in an office that was located on an industrial estate around the back of Feltham Young Offender's Institute. I happened to get there early and over the course of the first few hours of the day, I had three separate people come up to me to comment on there being another abandoned car in the car park again... Heathens! However, I had blown all my money on a full mechanical restoration and brand spanking new interior and could not afford a paint job.... yet the paint was so bad there were some areas of exposed metal and England is not the country to have bare metal hanging around. What would I do? ...you'll have to wait for Part III to see!

Hey Sparko!
I was very late 20s when I got it and it cost £250 to insure, but I do live in London.
You'll have to wait for the next installment to see whether I matt blacked it... but, yes.
There are a few more installments to come, the most recent being just yesterday when I picked it up from the legendary Burnham Autos where Paul had the brief to... "Make it look more like an extra from Mad Max".
All will be revealed soon enough...

That's looking to be a promising car. Not to fond of that body shape but then I don't suppose you'd be able to afford a fast back model.

I prefer the coupe (notchback) in the early cars and the fastback in the later ones.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Thanks for all the responses so far... even the one that told me I couldn't afford a Fastback!
To be fair my choice was between a ratty and rusty Fastback or have a Notchback built to my spec. I am really glad that I made the right decision.
The car gets LOTS of use, I am NEVER afraid to take it on a long journey (it has even been on a couple of day trips to a client of mine in Manchester - from London - and back). Because I know it has been properly put together, I know that it will never let me down.
I appreciate that I am VERY fortunate to have had a slightly larger budget than some of the other cars I see on the forum, but I have also had a whole string of sub-£500 retros that I have enjoyed almost as much as the Pony... almost.
I have ALWAYS said that there are absolutely loads and loads of really cheap, VERY cool cars out there. I get such a kick out of seeing everyone's rides here and suddenly realising... "Hey, I hadn't ever realised that such and such car is cool now!"
For every person that drives a car worthy to be posted on this forum - thank you for helping keep the roads a slightly more interesting place!
...OK, don't know what happened there. I'm off my high horse now... or should that be high pony?

That is the best looking Mustang i've seen in ages. Was it Prairie bronze? One of my dad's friends has an immaculate '65 in prarie bronze that he never uses.
