since the doctor told me about this forum, I think I would like it in here. I've got a Toyota Celica Ta40 Liftback from 1978. It has a 1600cc, double carburated engine (2t-b) the pre-facelift version, with the round headlights but it's the liftback, so it has enough space for my (weber) barbecue(s) The interior is tan, as oldskool as possible Before I had this Celica, I had this ke30: blue ke30I've updated the celica with a leather top of the dash ...and a sway bar at the back ...and yellow koni's at the front ...louvers at the back ...sporting steering wheel different set of wheels have been with me.. 1. Ats classic 6x13 (sold) 2. honey's (sold) 3. Oz-racing (sold)(Michiel has them now) 4. ats classic 7x13 ET02 (sold) 5. original celica ra40 gt (for sale) 6. celica aa63gts steelies (drive on them) 7. allycat rally 7x13 (going to be sold in the afternoon) I think I'm going to like this forum a lot... And a roommate is going to join here for sure (he drives a vw polo 89 and a vw derby '81) Mark

Welcome, nice car! I'm sure you've seen the pic's of the gold one at 'our' show that was very similar to your's. Interesting that you have the 1600 engine - we only got 2-litres in the liftback ST/XT/GT models and 1600 was limited to 2dr models here.

Hmm, you have the same engine as my Carina, but with twin carbs.
I think I maybe could get a set of those, I wonder how much difference they'd make?

Hee Mark, jij ook hier! Welcome aboard with your cool cruiser! By the way, I've put the OZ wheels back up for sale since it's going to cost me way too much too put them on my car (but I've got my eye on a set of 4x110 minilite-reps now...).

Excellent ride,I'm especially liking the louvered rear window. A mate a long time ago in black with chrome wheels,it was an eye catcher back then ;D truly cool retro.

Woohoo another Toyota person!!! Now we're cranking! Welcome! Great to see a TA40 being preserved, in most people's eyes they're a bit of an ugly duckling, but IMO they're deserving of a special place in Toyota history, as it's what the mighty Supra was derived from initially! Does the old 2T-B provide enough motovation? We had TE71 liftbacks available here with the 2T-B and they weren't overly inspiring... btw power across variious 2T-B's ranges from 83 to 86bhp. Nice collection of wheels too, after I pick up my new (top secret for now!) car this weekend with an extremely special set of rims on it, I'll post some photo's of mine
