Just joined today - my interest is Morris Minors and fast bikes. I have 2 V8 Minors - 1 on road and the other in build, and son has fiat twin cam minor. Daily drive is Saab 9000 Griffin. I also have a Honda Fireblade and an X11 which I use for drag racing at local strip with Bike Club - www.thetwats.co.ukPhotos: Beating Mustang Beating mate's V8 minor (not by much) Rover engined 55 minor My Fireblade - loads of mods, but looks standard Some nonsense Griffin - 200hp as standard Minor 1986 prior to dismantling - check out www.minormania.com for build up pics. Start of rebuild last year 351 C V8, narrowed 9inch rear end etc etc X11 - Naked Blackbird - mild tuning - so far V8 and Fiat Minors

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Ry,
No I don't, but keep looking on rodandclassicmart, NSRA and Ebay - they do turn up. I really should have gone chevy instead of Ford Cleveland - not much out there in the way of tuning bits etc for them, and what there is is a bit more expensive. Still, should be different, and that's what it's all about.

Yeh, Sbc's are common as muck, I've sourced a new engine now from a dude oop north. Just out of interest, what sort of times ahve you run on the 1/4, I'm just trying to weigh up what mine will run, a guy round here ran high 12's low 13s in his with a 5litre rover. The new engine's run a 15.2 in a big yank car so it should be low 14's minimum in a car somewhat lighter, hahahaha.

Ry,
Best time I've run with the Blue Minor is 15.1 @91 mph. Not particularly quick, but equates to 0-60 in about 6.5 secs. The engine is a P6 with a fast road cam, edelbrock carb and headers, and is a bit tired. I've got re-conned Vitesse heads waiting to fit which should perk it up a bit. It's also an auto, with jag back end, and this probably loses it half a second easily. My 351 minor should (fingers crossed) run 13's with hopefully 12's eventually - but we'll wait and see. Mind you, it's the taking part that counts, and I'd rather see old cars having fun than credit card ricers!!

LOL! amen to that, I'd be happy with a mid 14 to be fair with my new engine, alot of it is gearing and the ratios on the axle
1/4 @ 15.1 is by no way a slow time imo! that'd spank alot of stuff. All this ricer stuff makes me sick too. Oh look at me I've got a load of bolt on nasties from ripspeeed and overpriced J tuning companies. Diiieee!
Let me know if you're about at the pod, I'll nip over, although by the pics looks like you frequent york or shakey.

Nope, further North - Crail and Edzell. The bike club I belong to is very active in the drags up here (road bikes) - fastest time so far is mate - 9.5 @146 on his Suzuki gsxr 1100 with nos, and is getting quicker. My best on my Blade is 11.2 @130, but bike's not really designed for it (goes vertical), hence me buying the X11 recently for this purpose - hoping for low 10's. Max power days up here are massively popular, and there are some very fast motors - guy in a Suburu does 9.9's regularly - that's quick. I'll post dates on here soon, but check out - www.crailraceway.co.uk for info. Pete
