Has anybody used the bandsaw much? I am getting fed up of trying to jigsaw through 3mm steel plate /5mm ali and wondered if the bandsaw would be better then my crappy jigsaw (to be fair it does to well considering it was super dooper cheap and 3mm steel is quite hard to cut.) I've not used the Aldi one, but I doubt it'll do what you want.

THANKS IainM. I wanted to know, because though it comes with a spare 6mm blade, they are around £14 each, plus £5 for P&P , so almost half the price of the whole setup, including spare blade. My dad used to break blades on his large one, we used it for woodwork, and cutting up game and beef every year. The blades would let go, then he would just have them welded up again, cheaper than replacing. Next answer. IT IS ONLY FOR WOODWORKING. (guess plastic etc as well, but not metal) Assembled mine, and had a play, seems to still cut skew, but will try to set blade again when in the mood over the weekend. Works then....... ;D

Lowestoft still has a nearly full pallet of compressors...... and lots of other tools.
Okay, one less - they have TEN left, nail guns, torque wrenches, ratchets and drills. Four bandsaws and some 'Dremel' -like thingies.
I'm going to link my compressor into two 30-litre air reservoirs I 'liberated' from two scrap machines so I should be able to do something useful with it befopre the wind dies down! ;D

'tis true, tis the same impact gun as my SIP/clarke one. i don't only pay £20 for mine though, id feel ripped off if id bought it at M.M. parices.
the air saw and reversable drill are also offerered by clarke/machine mart at vastly inflated prices..... about £35 each

QUESTION: Is the air saw worth buying. What sort of metal will it cut through, would it do 1.5 mm steel?
I might have to take a trip to the not very local Aldi and see if they have any left.

My mate got an air saw the other day,and to be honest when i tried it on a rusty mini i was tempted to chew through it with my teeth as it would have been easier. But that could be down to the blades being curse word.

Air saw's not that great... I've resorted to the angle grinder! mine isn't sealing properly though & the blades are probably pretty curse word!

Not Aldi but noticed a good deal in todays Sun newspaper, Screwfix have a trade counter special on and are offering a 2hp 24Lt Direct Power Compressor with a free 5 piece air tool kit which includes Blow gun, Spray Gun, and Connectors all for £59.99. Sounds the same as the Aldi deal the other day but a bit cheaper. Looked on the website but the offer isn't on online, instore only I'm afraid, the closest I can find online is THIS

Well, after having tried it last night, I concur with the above comments. First of all, I couldn't figure out which blades were for which application. I tried the red one first and got nowhere before it blunted then tried a blue one and while it cut better, the saw kept stalling. I resorted to my jigsaw and the only metal blade I could find in my whole garage!

To be fair, I think it'd work better with a higher capacity compressor. I think it just kept running out of air.
