I missed out on the regulator/watertrap thing, had it in hand , put it down to look at the rest of the stuff, and aother guy picked it up..... too bad. Those bandsaws at £50 are a great buy, just need to find where to get replacement blades and also where to take them for repairs. The can be welded up repeatedly, in case you did not know. I did not have space, my boot is full of work, the rear seat was filled with lunch for 20 people etc. So compressor and tools took up the front seat .

Went to Aldi after work as I couldn't get to the one in Stoke at lunchtime They had 6 compessors left after I stuck mine in the trolly and probably about 40+ of each of the accessories ;D So I got the regulator, oil, impact gun, drill, shot blaster and the wrench. We do the weekly shop there, so will wait till they reduce the other bits and get them They still have a few of the bench grinders, drills, generators, garage winches, routers, etc... from the last special in there too. Already kitted out with them though.

Just bought the compressor in Pontefract Aldi, looks to be a decent bit of kit for the price. Perfect timing, the motor bearing on my Clarks compressor siezed up last week after 10 years of abuse. They still had 10 left at closing time if anyone in West Yorkshire is looking for one.

The nearest Aldi to me is 15 miles away but I trudged over there before work and got a compressor, oil, and varios tools. Got there at 8.45 and was about 15th in the queue - all blokes buying compressors ;D Only had a quick look at it so far but looks good value - only thing I've tried is the tyre inflator but that works fine! Word of warning - check the oil level before you fire it up - mine was almost empty - well under the red dot mark it should be up to Gonna give the spray gun a go soon on a bike frame

I went back at dinner time to get one my heart sank as there were none on the pallet ,then I noticed one around the side so grabbed it quick and slid it down to the till to pay ,as I was paying a very disgruntled bloke came over and asked if I had got the compressor from the side off the shelves, apparently he went to get a trolley to put it in and it had gone when he returned . No it wasn't me mate I got mine off the pallet ;D ;D ;D I said Quality!! Bet the other chap was hopping mad - I would've been. Love the way Aldi stors have gangs of blokes waiting outside for them to open up. Then once inside people are stalking the aisles looking for un-attended tools to rush to the tills with! Wonder how long it'll be before they have security guards in there on Thursday tool days to stop any aggro. Not had a chance to play with my new toys yet - probably have a look on the weekend now. JB

Impact guns a bit weak and the air drill is useless anyone have any thoughts on their purchases yet? Make sure you are using a hose with at least 10mm internal diameter. Anything less like the boingy coiled hoses restricts flow too much for the bigger tools like the air drill and impact gun.

I bought one of the impact guns the last time it was on offer, its got no power whatsoever, on a proper airline. The air chisel works fine as does other stuff I've bought from there in the past.

Does the gun turn freely by hand? Ive seen a few of these sorts of things that were very tight from new, and needed loosning up before they started working well. Last one I looked at, I took to bits, cleaned, oiled, then rebuilt, but didnt tighten all the bolts up too much, just a nip up. It span much more freely after that and seemed a lot more powerfull.

So is the oiler/regulator thing a good idea then?
I didn't bother, ut I might go and buy one on recommendation.

Also does anybody have difficulty with the quick releases on the end of the pipes? Yeah, mine are a bit weird on it alright - not as easy to put on and take off as one might imagine! Got mine put together and tested, all seems fine and my dad seemed well impressed. To be honest, for the money i cant complain. I think the first thing i am gonna paint with all my new kit is the tank itself! Snazzy wheels too, sort of like a Cragar/Fuchs effect. Now its got the rims it just needs the stick - thats the usual plan right?? ;D ;D ;D ;D
