clean and sparkly is great, same as ropey and low is cool. its all down to the owner. I like clean and sparkly cars and have been known to wash, cut and wax my cars. not often but they usually require other work or addressing some rot. not much point polishing rot. I admire those that make the nice shiny finishes, but sometimes its just all hype. all the "tricks" and products seem to be like the flipside of hoodride but with the same MO- you got to use the the right yoghurt to get the lichen going, the rot in the right place etc.
clean is cool, but hey; check the car in my sig - would you think about polishing it? the sponge and bucket would elope to never-never land ;D I have got some circa 1974 simoniz GT somewhere......

Going back to the first page where you mention a product that you can spray on a car at the auctions and then it looks like new, it is out there. The polo I bought for £300 at auction looked shiney as new when we first saw it, however the first time it was washed it went like this: I suspect the 'miracle product' sprayed all over the faded red (read pink) paintwork was the complete contents of a can of WD40 A whole day with Tcut and then Auto Glym super resin polish had it looking the biz though ;D

i really don't get detailling, i do like to keep my cars clean. ive always found old socks great for applying polish (always found meguires carnuba wax to work well), being lazy i find the halfrauds polishing buffer dispatches of most of the residue pretty well, leaving me with the little nooks and krannys to buff off with and old jumper! don't think the paint looks too bad considering its 16 years old. i don't get people who cant be bothered to look after their car either, it only takes ten mins to wash the crud off and check the condition of the sills etc! as they say, a stitch in time save 9!

Couple of points: 1. Keep the interior and exterior of your car clean and tidy and when the time comes to sell, you'll either get more for it or sell it quicker/easier. 2. Autoglym is the best polish I've ever used - bar none. 3. no, I don't keep my cars as clean and tidy as I should, especially in this weather - but I'm not selling them either.

I don't think the paint looks too bad considering its 16 years old. Looks very smart, non-greying trim makes all the difference too! Nice one. To be honest, I don't tend to clean out interiors as well as I should. Though I keep them free of mud and damp, I tend to have a load of stuff lying around in rear footwells, tins of WD40, packaging for service bits, rolls of tape, etc. Nothing that can't be solved by just taking it out though.
