I'm going to need a beam extender for the rod. Has anybody got experience with these? Are there plans anywhere online as I work alongside another welder who does structural work.
Any companies still make them?

If you end up making one , I might be interested in having one made as well , if that makes it cheaper/easier for you .
I think there’s still people that make them , think someone in your volksrod thread mentioned having one made . Again , if you find someone that makes them & it’s cheaper for a couple , let me know .
👍

Couple of bits of tube, some laser cut plates and you're golden
The one on mine was really nothing more than that

I (...) think someone in your volksrod thread mentioned having one made . How do they get the front wheels so far forward - fit the torsion bar beam t'other way around or summat? They use a beam extender 👍 I thought there was a photo other than Yours zeberdee, but maybe it got deleted? But with Your pic somebody should be able to design some laser cut model after some measuring?

Wozavan in wolverhampton built mine 07535 962343. I don't know him but seemed ok said he would have it done and he did on time no fuss.

No build thread I'm afraid the roof was already gone when i brought mine and everything else was just general VW beetle stuff. Hopefully your engine is a good one aircooled engines amazed me at how much they go for now.

Had a quick look around for suitable tyres today. Tried (lent up a gas against) these old school Land Rover ones, I like.

I'd love to use some of these old bus tyres on the rear, commonly known as coffin sides.

Those work really well, and a set of adapters should see them on easy enough
