not that much iam able to report Endless hours of filling and sanding, in some areas i have to add till 15mm to get the right shape. Sometimes a little frustrating but the templates are not lying. Looks like worst is done now but far from finished, so i will have to invest another day to do it right. To be in better mood while doing that boring work iam working on a template to change the shape of the main inlet for the radiator now.

start to be happy with the left side now shape is now symmetric , only surface have to be done nice now trying the new shape of grill is telling me a little difference in height of the body over the left edge of the grill adding material before cutting out the new grill shape

i got news from my other project the CB5, Chris had time to work on the car last pictures i will post on the CB5 thread

Progress is not as quick as i thought. lots of hours needed to get the line i want. now i can start to sort out details at the front nose New grill opening is done, quite happy with area under the mouth has to be reshaped a little, will not be that visible behind the lizense plate but not that much work , tried the new shape for indicators think its a nice vintage looking detail, much better than the old version with the big orange cobra lights

next will be the indicators on the left side and the 4 openings followed from the 3 airintakes over the grill. My new rear windscreen arrived today, when i got the new produced surround for the rear screen i will see how to integrate
was much harder than expected to get the right shape, looks clear and easy to do but it isnt.

Seems a shame to have to cut into that pretty nose, but I know you have to. I'll be interested to see the roof and rear wings getting chopped about.
to be honest, iam too! Allways interesting how thinks you have in your head perform in real. But however it will be, cant be more worst, Straight flat areas in the roof and a nearly flat rear screen does not fit to a car like this
try to find best position for foglight and brake cooling Because of complete different proportions i cant use original position, original car is much lower so headlights don't have the needed 500 mm distance to the ground, and the grill is closer to the ground. So surching for a nice looking version even not close to the original. shape and height of the left front wing is different to the nice looking right one, the line of the headlight don't match with the wing started with reshape for better flowing lines and fitment of the headlight cover
reshaping of the lower area is done grill shape is ok now, only the edge inside must be completed, will be done when Front will be turned upside down work started to get the shape of the 3 air vents Front is turned upside down to laminate the parts together have to be shure all this single parts this front is done have to be stable to surrvive next actions like cutting and reshaping the rest. So the next step will be fiberglassing the front together

Have been asked about my profession. was working as development engineer for the automotive industry, customers like BMW, Daimler and Porsche After 20 years i was asking myself if i would like to do that the rest of my live Allways dreamed to design and build my own designed Car , thats now 2 years ago when i started project CB5 CB5 started as a roadster rebody for one of my beloved MX5 in the middle of that project i have been asked from Chris , Owner of Tribute if i can imagine to do a coupe version from the CB5, so my OneOff would be a serial production rebody for the UK market. Agreed and started to design the Coupe Version

Decission was made thats the kind of work i will try to do in future. so calculated time and money needed to do my dreamcar and offer turnkey cars later, professional build for German market So my own version of a California Spider was build, BMW Z3 based because of better Image of BMW as good donor with great 6 cylinder engine and last but not least i work now on the failure my partner did with a Oneoff build in UK for him, based on a bodykit from Chris. So to make a long story short, still a hobby with the target to build later serial cars in low volume. Future will tell if people like my kind of work and willing to pay for

you can call me a beginner with big dreams, doing now the 3 body in my live Still learning by doing but allready 3 times quicker in build and design process. For the CB5 i had to do nearly every detail 3-4 times before i was happy with, now i know exact where to go....
