friend of mine got a one of inspired from the 275 speciale. idea was a couple of years ago to get a car looking like this , its 1 of 4 done that way to win LeMans for the Italian so no way to get the real one, even you have the millions of dollars they are worth now. target was to catch the look of that icon    |

for me a real good looking coupe
last evolution of the GTO theme packed together with the more modern 275 shape and rear end.
only problem was the body i had to start with, but at least better than nothing and should be quicker to be finished while waiting to get my California prototype back from molding

car is based on the BMW Z3, same like my California conversion. Reason why is the legal registration for Germany, all my conversions are 100% legal and apply German TÜV. Thats limiting the look of the cars because we have to share the front window with the donor to be legal. so a lot of thinking has to be done to live with different proportions and catch most of the car you are inspired from thats why i understand its not easy to do, but what my partner got after years waiting for was wrong and a little bit of ugly in my eyes  looking for me more like a angry frog, maybe a little like the 275, but never like the Speciale  side line without tension, roofline to flat and not the best integration of the Z3 side window  best look is from the side, again rear wings don't feel right for me  rear should be easy fix to get right |

got the car in november, the fun starts with surching whats wrong...
for me to much straight areas, not that powerful curves i like, no muscles not a trained sporty body, looking more like my own body (by the way age wise iam at the same age like the speciale...)
So like i would need some gym , same with the car
starting with rear arches to get more tension and to get the place for more dished wire wheels
Ordered a couple of body panels from another project to implement elements for a quicker build phase

because of the strange face i call the project Froggy the angry frog told my partner a couple of times it will really hurt what i will do with the car, special with a more or less new car, will be cuted in pieces and he has to trust that at the end it will be worth time and money spend. so i collected the unwanted Froggy in my workshop to start the massaker..    |

correcting the front wheelarches for better shape and look was the easiest part of the front change  |

was time to kiss Froggy to get a prince... hope so...  realized that will be only the beginning of a massaker... to much out of shape and wrong  was the first time Robert was scared about, he was not prepared that the repair of the look will be that extreme |

on the picture above you can see the new rear wheel arch i made while waiting on the panel for the front rear vents had to be changed as well..  in the meantime the needed panel arrived, waiting to be cut in pieces for integration to the front  |

rear wheel arches ready, placed the old wheels 20mm more out to simulate how it will look with the new deeper wheels and bigger tires  start to like the rear arches vents have to be changed...  |

started with different kind of front air vents, templates from paper to check the look--  not happy with position and the flat panel , need more curves to get the classic shape, so only one way to change that--  looks like Froggy will have a hard time.... |

now i was free to place everything where i need it, only radiator height and position of front hood opener limited me, rest was placing and find best postions... whenever i was frustrated about the solution i changed the working area , and there have been a lot still waiting to be changed..   rear vents, cutted and different shape now, still rough because area around may be changed as well |
