can be done only a little, reason is the Speciale was build to win LeMans, so engine as much back and as low as possible. Cars today are build with other topics, no legroom and nearly no space to sit with comfort would not be prefered from customers. Thats why the proportions and heights are completly different to a 60s racecar. So its a big challenge to be as close as possible without cutting the chassis and reposition the radiator Doing that don't allow to use the original registration, so in Germany it would be nearly impossible to registrate the car in a legal way. In that case it has to have the newest emission Euro 6 temp, impossible with the original engine The front wing of the original is much longer the doors are shorter, entering the car is not easy because this, so i have to find the best optical position with this different proportions. so based on a donor it can be only inspired, never a replica from something-

That would help for shure, only problem the lowest line of the bonnet is limited to the radiator height, so going to low with the frontwing will create the problem i will not get enough difference between this to areas. At the end of the day it would create a front more similar to the Jaguar Etype. So its a compromise i have to find and to live with.
Thats why i start now with the lowest position i can get with the bonnet and start with final wing line after Lets see how it will be in about 2 weeks

Now I look again, the hump of the rear wing looks much further back compared to the Ferrari also. It's way behind the wheel and not above it. I really enjoy theese builds of yours. It's inspriring and I would love to do something similar. There's no shortage of ugly old kit cars that really need some help.

Looks a lot better already, but agree improvement should be possible to reduce the height above the front wheels even if it meant losing some of the shape across the bonnet. Always hated the high bulbous bonnet of Z3 and have wanted to see one with a custom bonnet and headlights to fix that styling mistake! Noticed some z3 had remote coolant reservoirs away from the radiators while others did not. Would that allow a lower height radiator to be used? I have seen some newer Japanese cars using coolant filler caps installed into radiator hoses so the radiator could be lower than the engine without a separate coolant tank. Mitsubishi lancer/Outlander coolant filler-

The rear end is nearly untouched till now, only reprofiled the wing where it touches the wheel arch. Added new wheelarches wider and different shaped, lots of issues but fixable i quess.
When the front is roughly shaped i will start with the sideline and the greenhouse. Will try a different rear window, the old MGB one is to flat , same with the roofline, to many straight areas
So the complete side line will be reshaped incl the rear wing, lots of work waiting for me....

2 pictures from reshaping process Front grill little smaler and flater bonnrt line brfore parts are fiberglased togther area over the grill needs little reprofiling to be more harmonic

was a busy week, started to close the side of the front tried to shape a steel mesh close to the needed shape not easy to form the 3d shape so only the upper lines come close in a second step the side line and the lower line will follow

when the side line will be correct the areas between have to be finally shaped will be a lot more work than expected, when the shape will look nice all the holes have to be cutted for additional lights and brake vents, so most of the new area will go away anyway, but to find the shape i have to go that way, i guess..

today working on the lower frontline, approx i know now where to go have to take care that the look will be harmonic from every angle you look at it i quess that will be the shape i will start with, still rough but already not that bad

the longer nose is now coming nice as it should be only problem i found with longer nose the 3 vents have to be set more in front as well. so when the sideline is closed on both sides i have to decide to change the 3 vents to be more in front and lower

What are you thinking about? I am thinking that what you are looking to achieve with balancing all of those key features with proportions provided by the base donor is no easy task. Thanks for taking the time to share the process.

you are right, the donor keeps me more busy than i like, but its not that far away anymore. Hope at the end the compromises will not be that visible anymore. Have the feeling iam on a good way to hide most things and get the 60s look iam looking for

the 3/4 front view is the most problematic one, but it comes closer and closer now....

Or would that be feowned upon over there? It does conpromise the looks and presumably blocks airflow too

started to close the LHD front side, this time with foam to speed up the process, and reshaping is much easier than working with a mesh have to fill the missing areas before finishing the shape to get symmetrical

next item to be done are the 3 vents, they have to go more in front, with the long nose they are to far away and to high... the new position is improving the lines, now the bonnet line looks not that high anymore
