Nice area! iam near Cologne, called Sauerland.... but coming from Austria
closer picture from "Dicker Hund" Massimo is watching me all the time iam working on the project
if you look close 2 things should be visible now his beloved toy is a VW Käfer.... so real car nut, he tried to play when 6 months old with the big Maine Coon cat from my girlfriend, was not his best idea....
not that much happend today, fixed now the position of the cut outs i have to do
not exact at the position where the original has his one but for me the best for a good harmonic look.
complete front has been measured twice, max. difference i found was about 3mm so acceptable and not visible. with this measurements iam able to mirror the positions to the left side For the body shape i have to produce a template made from wood.
Ouch... Did you not fancy a change of name to Emilio (Largo). - actually work on a couple of levels that one and even the wink seems mean
Which led me down a Bond rabbit hole to the 2000GT - Which, If I ever won the lottery I would commission you to produce a body kit for on something like a Z4 donor. I think this would make a far more interesting subject than a Ferrari clone.
Interesting styling on those rear side lamps
At $2.5M for the most prized..... They make the Strato's look like value for money.
the 2000 GT is a great looking car! actually there was a japan company doing a nice replica from, only don't know if t hey sell a single body as well. its called the Rocky 3000 GT But i think they did it in metal, so not that easy change like with fiberglass
when remembering right they asked about 200000 usd for a complete car
with the wheels coming 20 mm outside now it starts to look a lot more like the old racecars and not only like a vintage car Car has now a much better stance , changes the impression even more than i expected
to compare last picture with the old wheels on the right side
front wheel 20 mm more inside the body, smaller wheels at the rear Only problem i found now the rear body is far out from beeing symmetric, with the rear outside now its mch more visible , difference is about 10 mm smaller than the right side. So after the front i have to work on the left rear wing to cover the wheels and reshape the wing complete
little Update found out the front axle was setted to deep, distance to the ground ws original only 90 mm Thats the reason there has been problems touching the ground when trying to get inside lower situated garages.
In Germany we should have minimum 110 mm , i wouldnt care that to much but hitting the ground makes no fun. So front is setted now 20 mm higher
Look is now a little stupid
to get back the nice look wheel arches have to be modified
thats right, but it would be much faster if i wouldnt allways find failures and mistakes from the past. Setting out the much better looking wheels more outside i could see at the front the wheelarches are different, at the rear the body is not sitting symmetrical, so i have to wide the left wheelarch about 10 mm and resshape the rear wing to hide this. Thats not the end of the world but it doesnt help to speed up my project. Cant understand why not useing templates to make shure symmetrical build body.
