Impressive work.
From the pictures it looked solid so it hid it's issues well.
I prefer the bull bars suits it well IMHO.
Keep up the good work.

I definitely understand how easy it is for pictures to be deceiving, you can see in previous pictures before any form of dismantling began how minimal the rust looks, then in person up close changes that . I 100% agree! I thought it was nice to see how she looked without it since that's the first I've ever seen her like that, but then in prior pictures it's so much more unique! Thank you again mate, a weekend of indulging and nightclubbing is coming but I'll be working on her after work most nights this week .

Final update for this weekend. Front end has been stripped, LPG Filler neck removed and also the badges from the wings removed (What. A. Nightmareeeee, lol). Finally to wrap things up, I made the first cutout around where the LPG filler neck was followed by the area above that where the rear side marker light is seated. The LPG will not be going back in hence why I started there. Updates to come but may be limited this weekend!

So tonight was just making the patch for where the LPG filler cap sat. Literally just a wee drop in the ocean, but progress can never be seen as a waste of time! Any fabrication or welding I did on my MK5 Fiesta regardless inside or out, accessible or not, I ALWAYS put Copper Weld Through primer on it just so it has a better chance of lasting. I applied the same again and will continue to do so .

Got the day and tomorrow off work as I'm going to a good friends birthday tonight so drinks will be upon me lol. I'm still a lightweight hence why I need the extra day off. Anyways, since I completed patching the former LPG filler neck I went ahead and got going with the rear side marker light housing which is just above the patch. Fabrication was simple, welding it on was not however. You can see from the previous post's pictures how much was left of the embossed bit, practically none . Here's some pictures. As you can see I test fitted the light to make sure the gaps were acceptable. The welds still need more flatting but I was quite pleased with the outcome so I removed the light, sprayed with copper weld through primer and then finished up for this morning. The big huge list is on it's way down!

Just a wee update, not much as had another mental night last night after clubbing and then stotted home somewhere around 3:30AM . Anyways, since my hangover was relatively late in clearing off, plus the fact the repair sections are on their way from Ohio, I actually started on something that's not on the van. Believe it or not, this door is probably the only one in the bestest condition rust wise. The others are going to be a big challenge as they're severely rotten, but one can only learn by pushing boundaries. Here's a few more pictures I'm unsure if I want to undo the spot welds and make a whole new section where the weather seals clips in right at the bottom edge, I'll decide closer to the time after the first section is finished. More updates to come as usual!

Good to see you getting on with this rebuild, Progress is Progress. Thank you, really happy to know you're watching it come along too! Without a doubt! No matter how big or small it's a plus one off the list.

Nothing worse than having an armchair warrior try to call the shots on your project you've bought and paid for everything yourself! So glad to have you onboard and following this project as I go mate, as everything I'm doing is on my own and can be daunting!

Nice work Deano. I have to tacky the door bottoms on my Escort too, but I’m going to finish the main body first. Looking forward to the updates.

It's because of threads like this that I enjoy RR so much, The high standards of fabrication and welding etc. from, (for the most part,) amateurs is little short of superb, Another of my favourite, and bookmarked, threads, Brilliant work, Nigel

I'd love to see how you get on with that, hopefully they're in better condition than my doors but definitely get the main body done and then worry about the wee bits further down the line. I only started on the doors to see if I could save them before looking for replacements but so far so good, I'll keep the updates coming!

I'm 100% still an amateur, I only started welding end of March and so anything I do is to the best of my ability which I continuously keep on pushing. Glad to have you onboard and thanks for your time and for following the build

"A total of a day and a half's worth of work in total, still needs finishing but they're to a standard I'm happy with. 3 Doors now saved, 3 more to go"
Still cheaper than sourcing and getting replacements ... which may also require fettling ... Well done ! ... carryon

Really glad I've started doing the doors now instead of last, less work to be completed! And thank you very much!
