Only a tiny update, bought myself an OEM JDM gold and black front nose cone badge to finish off the front of the car after having the paintwork done. These are one of those trinkety things thatre hard to come by usually Got the nose cone off m, old badge off and set about with the tar and glue and plastic razor blade. There was loads of hard stuff round the edge which just wouldn’t shift and took a little paint off. Not sure if someone had used extra glue in the past 🤦🏻♂️ Here’s the new one next to the old one, only a subtle change Cheers!

Hi all, Few updates over the last few weeks. Not much to report on the Nissan Took the car to wentworth classic car show and took some snaps which was a great day out! (Parked next to my bros e34) Here are some cool cars from the day Volvo is still on daily duties Went down the rabbit hole of searching for another cool 2 spoke wheel for the Volvo, found this cool JPS momo But it was in need of some serious TLC, BUT it was steal Literally fell apart when I got the cover off, the cover and the 40 year old hard polyurethane/foam Got as much of it glued back together with contact adhesive and then bought some epoxy foam/putty to rebuild it with. Got to layering and sanding and trying by best to get the shape back Found someone making genuine leather covers on eBay, send them the dimensions and they send me one back with extra free leather for the spokes, absolutely unreal service and quality for 25quid posted Outer rim done, took my time and worked the leather when it needed to go to be nice, finished it off with the steamer and some contact adhesive after where the spokes are How the spokes got dealt with. Then the full wheel finished Stuck it on the snap off so it’s ready to sling in the Volvo Was my first time doing anything like this so really chuffed with the outcome so I’m giving it a 9/10. One last pic of it next to my abarth/momo boomerang, the strange obsession with 2 spoke steering wheels continues (goes with the 3 spoke wheel thing 😂) To finish was meana be at RR all weekend but been having a stint of curse word luck health wise recently which is a shame, will be there Sunday for the show though hopefully see lots of cars in person 🙏🏻 Thanks all 🤙🏻

Some beautiful cars there, your brothers E34 is stunning, Think I'd give the steering wheel 9.75/10 for a first attempt, Nigel

He originally bought it 5 years ago and owned it for 2 years, but gave it up to focus on his business and buying a house, now those are ticking over nicely he was in the market for something old again. Previous owner lives up the road from me and kept it nice in a warm garage/covered 300 miles in it as a Sunday driver and actually mentioned selling it back to my brother when I was restoring the headlights for him on his car a few weeks ago, so chuffed it’s come full circle and almost been serendipitous! Also thank you for the kind words about the steering wheel!

Nissans not turned a wheel since I fussed the paint but here’s a picture of it anyway 😂 Did take the Volvo to my brothers house with some detailing gear to give his car a quick once over. We only had about 5 hours to get around the full car from start to finish as my bro had made plans with his other half 😂 but we knocked the top off it, got rid of the swirls and then I ceramic coated it for him so it’s no effort to keep clean. He’s nowhere near as fussy about the paint as me and knows nothing about the paint correction process so some shiney red and a once over with low maintenance to follow is all he wanted which was fine by me. For anyone interested we polished it with koch chemie polish and coated it with gyeon one evo. Got rid of the oxidation and brough some shine back Didn’t have much time to picture anything else but here’s the after shined up and protected Gave him the instructions for the next week and then he can just keep it washed with some nice pure/neutral shampoo 🤙🏻 Thanks!

That looks great!!! They've pretty much fixed the main aspect I could never get to like on the 914 - those funny protruding sidelights/indicators.

Decided to stick some pictures together of when i first got the car and this morning, even though the changes seem subtle it’s easy to lose sight of all the work that it’s had. Cheers!

Little update tryna get some little niggles addressed. I started to notice when I washed the car with the jetwash it was getting a little leak into the boot. Dismissed it as water running off the boot the first couple of times because it’s a strange shape but apparently not. Never happened when it rained. Whilst taking the trims out one of the bits of hardware (nuts) fell off with it as if it’d be rattle loose and eventually come off. I think the same has happened with the spoiler nuts and they’ve backed themselves off ever so slightly over time. I had a bit of tweak room on the back of the spoiler mounts. Here’s what I found when I whipped all the trims off. These are the back two. Front two are still perfect Scuffed the front two off best I could, stuck some hydrate 80 on and then high zinc primer and a bit of cheap gloss black paint To remedy it happening again I bought some stainless EPDM rubber washers and some blue locktite on the threads so they can’t rattle loose again. Had the jetwash round it again and it’s absolutely bone dry. Nice to be able to catch these rings early and make a bit of an improvement over what it left the factory with to stop it ever happening again. I’ll probably treat the inside of the boot to a bit of cavity wax and call it a day. Thanks! Lou
