Do not adjust your sets! I have made a bit of progress! Finally pulled my finger out my backside and knuckled down to make progress on this, after attending the NSRA Supernationals and then RRG and seeing Dez thrash his build round track I had a bit of a ghee up (and also wanting to become a guest car at an event hopefully hahaha!) So planning to get deep into this again to try and get it ready for either RRG 2025 or 2026... wishful thinking me thinks, but we'll give it a crack! Anyway, there have been discussions within the ranks and it was decided before ploughing on making an inlet system, that having a bonnet side to see just how little space there was between things was the best course of action. These look much better in the photos aren't finished yet as there's no way of mounting them at the bottom yet but that'll come in time. The edge around the cut outs is hand formed and was a great arm workout! Next steps are add some louvers because I can and then look to fix them on properly so I know exactly what can go where. Should there need to be some external parts/elements to allow room some ideas from the wider audience would be great as I only have a couple of ideas, want it to not look like a tractor or an afterthought, but also don't want it to look too try hard or tacky. I agree this isn't exactly a helpful design brief but any way of hiding or making a focus point of the air inlet if it needs to protrude the bonnet side would be massively appreciated. I'm aiming to do small and often updates now to feel a bit more like I'm accomplishing things! Thanks as always, Braithwaite!

This was one thought we had but I feel it might look a bit out of place? Although no harm in offering it up to see how it looks!

As everyone has said, keep at it because it is excellent. Unfortunately I can’t pop over to help but am cheering you on from here. Can’t wait to see the “finished” rod.

I'd be inclined to try and fit up the front fenders and then maybe you'll have a better idea whats going on with hiding the suspension turrets. Might be a way to box both those and the engine parts in, in one. Also, is it time to figure out which wheels and tyres you want to use and make some stylistic choices? That might help you decide on what to do.

Continuing on from the previous conundrum, I offered up the bonnet side with the intake hose fitted the to the turbo, and there was no chance of it fitting without changing the profile of the the cut I'd already done, and by that point it would be pointless even having the bonnet side as there'd be such little left... Standing around, scratching heads and going "hmmmm" suddenly produced an idea, if the inlet can't move inboard, the bonnet side will need to move outboard, so a bit of tracing paper, cutting, hammering, English wheeling, then more hammering, more wheeling and then, shrinking and stretching produced this: Not fully finished but not only gives the inlet some room but also protects fingers from the hungry steering column so a win win! It also adds as a subtle hint that this is no V8 powered machine! I'll update once welded in of course. I've also made a small start on finishing the tunnel at the bell housing end but will photograph that when I have some metal in place not just cardboard! Thanks everyone, Braithwaite out!

That might help you decide on what to do. I'm undecided on what route to take but I think it'll get motorcycle style mudgaurds as I like the more open wheel look and also can't be bothered to try and make a full wing set from scratch . But definitely think it'll be time for wheels and tyres soon as I think there might be some ground clearance issues with the gearbox cross member. She'll be reet!

Not sure when I last mentioned floor and tings but this is now the current state of affairs: This is around the pedals, the gap is intentional as I want to do the exhaust and check I don't need to cut any clearance for it! This is the passenger side of the tunnel to bulkhead area. I'll get a better photo of the overall state of things inside, there's still a mountain of work to do but it's making progress! Cheers then, Braithwaite.

Nice bit of metalwork on the side bulge - well done. Cheers Mark, have worked it some more since so wits against the bonnet side much better now, once my louver dies arrive I'll add vents then weld that on.
